Move the rig plate until its rig line aligns with the rig pointer.

Tighten the screws to 7-9 pound-inches (0.8-1.0 Newton meters).

Examine the rig alignment after you tighten the screws.

VARIABLE STATOR VANE ACTUATOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure gives removal and installation instructions for the variable stator vane (VSV) actuator.
B. There are two VSV actuators attached to the forward stator case of the high pressure compressor (HPC). They are found at the 1:30 and 7:30 o'clock positions. Differences in the installation instructions between the left and right VSV actuators are given in the procedure.
C. The removal and installation procedures for the VSV actuators on the
CFM56-3-B1/-3B-2 engines are given in tasks 2 and 3. Procedures for the ú CFM56-3C-1 and CFM56-3-B1/-3B-2/-3C-1 with 3-D Aero HPC (Post-CFMI-SB ú 72-982) are given in tasks 4 and 5. ú D. AIRPLANES WITH CFM56-3-B1/-3B-2 ENGINES (PRE-CFMI-SB 72-982; ú CFM56-3-B1/-3B-2 VSV actuators are not equipped with an actuator clevis. ú The acutuator clevis is part of the bellcrank assembly. Thus, the ú actuator has a shorter stroke than the other CFM56-3C-1 engines. ú E. AIRPLANES WITH CFM56-3C-1 ENGINES (PRE AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-982) AND ú CFM56-3-B1/-3B-2 ENGINES (POST-CFMI-SB 72-982); ú These engines are equipped with an actuator clevis attached to the rod ú end. The actuator clevis to rod end is not field adjustable. Thus, the ú rigging of the actuator to the bellcrank assembly is not necessary. ú (1) There are two VSV actuator configurations for the CFM56-3C-1 ú (Fig. 401): ú CONFIGURATION 1 (PRE-CFMI-SB 75-023); ú This actuator does not have a lock nut or key lock on the actuator ú clevis end. ú CONFIGURATION 2 (POST-CFMI-SB 75-023); ú A new VSV actuator was introduced with a thinner piston rod ú diameter, a non-field adjustable threaded rod end, and a new end ú cap. This actuator has a lock nut or key lock on the actuator ú clevis end. ú (a) The Configuration 1 VSV actuator is completely interchangeable ú with the Configuration 2 VSV actuator, but only if installed in ú pairs with same part number.
