Independent Instruments
1. General
This Section tells you about the digital chronometer which can be installed in the DA 40. Refer to the equipment manufacturers' manuals for more data about the equipment.
% The Astrotech LC-2 digital chronometer or the Davtron M803 digital chronometer can be installed in the instrument panel of the DA 40.
2. Description
% A. Astrotech LC-2 Digital Chronometer
% Figure 1 shows the Astrotech LC-2 digital chronometer. It is located in the instrument panel, see % Section 31-10.
The front of the Astrotech LC-2 digital chronometer consists of 3 buttons and an LCD with 4 digits. The background of the LCD is illuminated.
The chronometer has two functions:
) Clock function (time and date). The hours can be displayed in 12 hour format or 24 hour format.
) Chronometer function (stop watch, 24-hour capacity). The unit displays the minutes and seconds during the first hour, then the hours and minutes until 24 hours.
The chronometer is supplied with power by an internal 1.5 V AA battery. The lighting is supplied with power by the main bus.

% B. Davtron M803 Digital Chronometer
% Figure 2 shows the Davtron M803 digital chronometer. It is located in the instrument panel, see % Section 31-10 or 31-11. Refer to Section 34-10 for more information about the OAT indication % functions of the unit.
% The front of the Davtron M803 digital chronometer consists of 3 buttons and an LCD. The % background of the LCD is illuminated.
% The chronometer has the following functions:
%) Clock function. The time can be displayed in 'Universal Time' format or 'Local Time' format.
%) Elapsed Timer Count Up. The unit displays the minutes and seconds during the first hour, then % the hours and minutes until 99 hours and 50 minutes.
%) Elapsed Timer Count Down. A count down from any time, a maximum of 59 minutes and 59 % seconds can be set.
%) Flight Time Alarm. The display will flash when the Flight Time equals the previous set alarm % time.
%) OAT/Volts. One button control steps sequentially through E, F, C. (E-Voltage (EMF), F-OAT % Fahrenheit, C-OAT Centigrade).
