 (6) New destination This function is used to designate a new primary destination. The rules for the New Destination function are as follows :
 (a)
 The prompt NEW DEST is available at any revised point except:

 -PPOS or FROM waypoint (except at origin in Preflight),
 -destination and waypoints beyond destination (before overflying the destination),
 -
for manual termination leg (i.e.: VM or FM leg),

 -
for non fix terminated leg.

 (b)
 The entered word must be an airport name.

 (c)
 If the entered airport is not in the Nav Data Base nor in the stored runway file, the New Runway page is automatically displayed.

 (d)
 All waypoints in the flight plan following the revised point are deleted (including primary destination and missed approach) and a discontinuity is strung between the revised point and:

 -
the new destination for Data Base airports,

 -
the IF at the origin of the default CF leg for pilot stored runways.

 (e)
 The NEW DEST entry, when temporary is still pending, does not create nor display a temporary alternate. The new alternate is displayed when the temporary is inserted.

 (f)
 Upon entry of NEW DEST, the alternate flight plan may be modified following one of the rules below:

 -
if NEW DEST is different from current dest and preferred alternate exists, then the new preferred alternate is strung.

 -
if NEW DEST is different from current dest and no preferred alternate exists, then the previous alternate is deleted (no Alternate flight plan exists).

 -
if NEW DEST is the same as current dest then the defined

 alternate remains unchanged. After insertion, vertical elements may be automatically modified to take into account vertical elements associated with the New Destination. However, if the new destination matches the old destination, the following parameters are unchanged: go around THR RED and ACC altitudes, descent TRANS ALT, descent SPD LIM, descent WIND, destination QNH, temperature and wind, and landing configuration.

 (7) Offset (Ref. Fig. 044) The parallel offset function enables the aircraft to fly parallel to the original F-PLN, laterally offset by a certain distance (entered by the pilot). It is accessed from LAT REV page at the FROM waypoint. When an offset is temporarily selected, a simplified LAT REV page is displayed. There is a temporary offset flight plan before insertion. For the ACTIVE F-PLN, transitions to and from the offset are displayed on the ND. A parallel offset entry is accepted if the following conditions are all true:
 -
the active leg is a CF, TF or DF
 and

 -
the leg following the active leg is a CF, FM or TF leg
 and

 -
the active or next leg termination waypoint is not the destination runway and

 -
the aircraft current distance to go to the active termination is greater than or equal to the distance required to reach the offset path.

 If an offset is not accepted, message ENTRY OUT OF RANGE is displayed
 on the MCDU.
 When accepted, an offset applies to the active leg and all CF, TF and
 FM legs that occur in a row whose termination waypoints are not a
 destination runway in the flight plan.
 An offset is automatically cancelled when:

 -
the next leg is not a CF, FM or TF leg or the next leg termination waypoint is the destination runway and the current distance to go to active termination is less than or equal to the distance required to reach the path or

 -
the active leg changes due to a lateral revision
 or

 -
the offset is cleared or zeroed on the LAT REV page. Before cancelling the offset, the scratchpad message DELETING OFFSET is displayed on the MCDU.

 (8) Holding pattern
 (a) General
 This function is used to insert a holding pattern with a manual R termination (HM leg) into the flight plan or to change the R parameters of an existing Hx leg.
 This function is only accessed if the revised waypoint is a fixed waypoint (including the termination of an HF leg) or the FROM waypoint. The following rules are used for the hold function:
 -If the revised waypoint is the FROM waypoint and the active leg is not an HM leg, this function inserts an HM leg at present position into the flight plan. It has a holding fix identified as "T-P" which is the aircraft present position at the time the INSERT LS key is pressed.
