 AIRWAYS page (Ref. Fig. 046, 047)

 1_ Access
 AIRWAYS prompt from LAT REV page.
 2_ Purpose
 Allows the pilot to select up to five airways with ending
 points for stringing into the flight plan after the revised
 point.
 3_ Data fields
 - Title:
 . AIRWAYS is displayed
 . FROM is displayed
 . the revised point ident is displayed.
 - 1L-5L: displays the pilot-entered airways ident in cyan
 large font. The label line displays via. If no entry is
 made, brackets are displayed.
 - 1R-5R: displays the ending point of the airways entered in
 the same line as the via field; i.e. 1R gives the ending
 point for the VIA entered in 1L, 2R for the VIA in 2L,
 etc...
 The ending point (or TO point) is in large font if it is
 manually entered by the pilot: else it is in small font.
 If the TO waypoint is neither entered nor computed, brackets
 are displayed.
 - 6L RETURN or ERASE: these prompts allow to return to the
 previous LAT REV page.
 If ERASE is pressed, it also deletes the TEMPORARY flight
 plan.
 Any entry made on the AIRWAYS page is lost when the page is
 left through these prompts.
 - 6R-INSERT: allows to insert the temporary revision into the
 flight plan.

 (c) MCDU use When the AIRWAYS page is accessed for the first time, the pilot can only enter an airway ident. The first VIA entered must contain the revised point; otherwise, the entry is invalid and a message AWY/WPT MISMATCH is displayed. After entry of the first airway, the pilot may define the ending point for this airway and also a second airway. Two cases can occur:
 1 1st case: If the pilot defines the ending point, this point
_ must belong to the airway; otherwise, the entry is invalid and a message AWY/WPT MISMATCH is displayed. At this time, if a second airway ident is entered, this second airway must contain the first airway ending point; otherwise, entry is invalid and the AWY/WPT MISMATCH message is displayed. If the entered ending point is a runway, the message NOT ALLOWED is displayed and entry is rejected.
 2 2nd case: If the pilot enters a second airway ident, the
_ following criteria apply to determine the correct intersection waypoint between the two airways (in precedence order from the first to the last criteria).
 -
If the 2 airways have only one interception (common waypoint or path intersection), it is entered as the ending waypoint for the first VIA.

 -
If the 2 airways have multiple interceptions, the common waypoint closest to the destination is used; otherwise, the point closest to the revised point is used.

 -
If the 2 airways have no common waypoint but have a single intersection point, this intersection is created as an FM-computed point.

 -
If the 2 airways have no common waypoint, but have multiple intersection points, the intersection closest to the destination is chosen (if possible); otherwise, the intersection closest to the revised point is chosen.

 -
If neither common waypoint nor intersection point is found, the second VIA entry is invalid and the message NO INTERSECTION FOUND is displayed.

 As soon as an airway and an ending waypoint for this airway are defined, a TEMPORARY flight plan is created, and normal display rules apply for this TEMPORARY. The above description applies for entry of second, third and fourth airways. For the fifth airway entry, the pilot can only define the ending point, but not a sixth airway.

 (10) Alternate
 (a) Alternate selection
 -Alternates are linked to destination airport. The list of the alternates (6 at the most) related to the Primary Destination can be consulted on a special page accessible from the LAT REV page if a lateral revision is performed at destination.
 -On this lateral revision page, the following items are displayed for each alternate:
 -Airway distance (from primary destination to ALTN destination).
 -Great circle track (mean track between Primary and Alternate destinations).
 -Extra at Alternate Destination.
 -When a new Alternate is selected, a temporary alternate is created.
 -The pilot can define any airport as alternate destination on the list of ALTERNATES page. The pilot has then to insert the airway distance in order that track and extra are computed and displayed for this airport.
 -Extra is also computed and displayed for a NO ALTN option which can be selected.
