D. Fully Lubricate the Cable

Remove the flexible cable from the cable sleeve (AMM 27-62-51/401).

(2)
Lubricate the cable:
(a)
Apply a large quantity of grease to the full length of the cable.
(b)
Apply grease to the surfaces of the swivel tubes and the guide tubes.

(3)
Install the flexible cable (AMM 27-62-51/401).

(4)
Make sure the cable moves freely in the sleeve:
(a)
Make sure the bolt that attaches the lower rod end is not installed.
(b)
Move the cable through its full travel a minimum of six times.
(c)
Make sure the force necessary to push the cable is less than
18.0 pounds.
(d)
Make sure the force necessary to extend the cable is less than
15.0 pounds.
(e)
If the cable does not move in these limits, replace the cable.
(5)
Remove the unwanted grease from the top end of the cable.

NOTE: Keep a large quantity of grease on all parts in the boot.

(6) Install the protective boot on the lower end of the cable.

Remove the bolt that attaches the lower rod end to the landing gear.

Remove the protective boot from the lower end of the cable.

Lubricate the ends of the cable:
(a) Apply grease to the fittings at the two ends of the cable.
NOTE: Some grease can come out of the outer surface of the

cable.
(b) Apply grease to the surfaces of the swivel tubes and the guide tubes.

(4) Make sure the cable moves freely in the sleeve:
(a)
