E. Procedure
 S 862-058
 (1)  Open these circuit breakers:
 (a)  P18-2 Panel
 1) FLIGHT RECORDER AC
 2) FLIGHT RECORDER DC

 S 842-055
 (2)  Prepare for the copy.
 (a)  
Put the flight data recorder TEST--NORMAL switch to the NORMAL position.

 (b)  
Open the lowered ceiling panel No. 1 above the aft galley (AMM 25-21-71/401).

 (c)  
Use the cable assembly to connect the copy recorder to the flight data recorder.

 (d)  
Set the TAPE SPEED switch to the 6 IPS position.

 (3)  Close these circuit breakers:
 (a)  P18-2 Panel
 1) FLIGHT RECORDER AC
 2) FLIGHT RECORDER DC

 (4)  Do this copy recorder procedure:
 (a)  
Set the TEST--NORMAL switch to the TEST position.

 (b)  
Make sure the POWER LOSS light flashes.

 (c)  
Push the STOP key to make the POWER LOSS light go out.

 (d)  
Make sure the READY light comes on

 NOTE: The READY light shows that the DFDR is in the standby
____ mode and the copy recorder is set to 6 IPS. Ignore the COPY ABORTED light if it comes on when the copy recorder starts.
 (e)  
Put a full reel of tape on the left hub and put an empty reel on the right hub.

 (f)  
Put the tape along the tape path.

 (g)  
Wind 3-5 turns of the tape on the right reel.

 (h)  
Make sure the tape path is correct.

 (i)  
Put tension on the tape until the two tension arms move to the middle position.

 (j)  
Set the mechanical counter to zero.

 (k)  
Turn the right reel counterclockwise until the mechanical counter reads 0003.

 (l)  
Set the mechanical counter to zero.

 (m)  Push the COPY switch one time.
 NOTE: The flight data recorder writes a sound on the tape as a
____ mark of its position. The data tape will wind to the start before the copy procedure will start. Fifteen minutes are necessary to wind the tape.
 NOTE: If you push the COPY switch more than one time, the
____ system will write more than one sound. The flight data recorder cannot, then, find the correct tape position.
 NOTE: Approximately 30 minutes are necessary for the full copy
____
 procedure.

 (n)  Make sure these indications show: 1) The lights will come on in this sequence: PRE COPY, COPY, POST COPY and DONE. 2) The UFDR NOT AT TONE light goes off approximately 12 seconds before the DONE light comes on. 3) During the full copy procedure, the UFDR BITE, COPY REC BIT, POWER LOSS, and COPY ABORTED lights must stay off.
 4)  After the POST COPY light comes on, the copy recorder continues until it finds the end of the tape (about 1 minute).
 5)  When the copy procedure is completed, only the DONE light will be on.
 (o)  
Push the STOP switch.

 (p)  
Push the MAN CNTRLS switch and the REWIND switch at the same time.

 (q)  
Make sure the copy tape winds to the left reel.

 (5)  
Set the TEST--NORMAL switch to the NORMAL position.

 (6)  
Disconnect the copy recorder from the flight data recorder.
