 (g)  AIRPLANES WITH A LATCH OPEN SWITCH; Make sure you can turn the torque wrench 2 to 4 turns before the latch actuator hits the internal stops.
 NOTE: The actuator has hit the stops when the torque

Do a check of the hook actuator with the door in the open position.

Make sure the hook has not contacted the stop bolts (Detail B, Fig. 601).

Put the torque wrench in the manual drive socket of the hook actuator.

Make a mark on the door to show the position of the torque wrench handle.

 NOTE: This position is where the actuator stops after

 it operates electrically.

 (d)  
Turn the torque wrench five turns in the CLOSE direction.

 (e)  
Turn the torque wrench five turns in the OPEN direction.

 (f)  
Make a note of the torque that is necessary to move the actuator.

 (g)  
Turn the torque wrench slowly in the OPEN direction.

 (h)  
Make sure that the external stop bolts have been contacted.

 (i)  
Make sure the internal stops have not been contacted.

 NOTE: The actuator has contacted the internal stops when the

 (1)  
Examine the latch lock sectors for damage (Fig. 602).

Replace the latch lock sectors that are damaged.

AIRPLANES WITH ALUMINUM LATCH LOCK SECTORS; Examine the bottom of the latch lock sectors for damage.

 NOTE: You must replace a latch lock sector with gouges more

 than 0.03-inch deep.

Examine the bearings and bearing housings along the length of the latch lock sector torque tube for damage.

Replace the bearings or bearing housings that are damaged.

Do these steps to make sure the master latch lock switch S1240 operates correctly:

 (a)  
Use the LATCHES CLOSED light to do a check as follows: 1) Open the master latch lock handle. 2) Make sure the green "LATCHES CLOSED" light comes on. 3) Close the master latch lock handle. 4) Make sure the green "LATCHES CLOSED" light goes off.
