Procedure

(1)
Do this task: "Fuel Flow Transmitter Removal" (AMM 73-31-01/401).

Install the PWA 85579 adapter to the fuel distribution valve:
(a)
Install the packing on the adapter.
(b)
Align the alignment hole of the adapter to the end of the fuel distribution valve.
(c)
Install the adapter with the four screws.
(d)
Attach the air pressure line to the adapter.

Connect the compressed air source, the pressure gage, the vent valve and the shutoff valve to the adapter.

Do the leak check of the fuel manifolds:
(a)
Apply the clean air through the adapter at 95-105 psig (655.0-723.9 KPa).

(b)
Apply the leak detector to the fuel manifolds (1, 4) and the tube nuts.
(c)
Look for the leaks from the surface at the connections for five minutes.
(d)
Bleed the pressure to zero.
(e)
If you find the leakage, repair or replace the parts as it is necessary. 1) Do the leak check of the fuel manifolds again.

Tighten the tube nuts on the fuel manifold (4) and the supply tube (1):
(a)
Tighten the tube nuts which connect the fuel manifold (4) to the fuel injectors (5) to 185-200 pound-inches (20.9-22.6 newton-meters). 1) Tighten the tube nuts again until the necessary torque is
kept.
NOTE: If the torque of the tube nut decreases after the
____ fourth time you try to tighten it, replace the fuel manifold, fuel tubes or seals as necessary.
(b) Tighten the tube nut which connects the supply tube (1) to the fuel manifold (4) to 275-325 pound-inches (31.1-36.7 newton-meters). 1) Tighten the tube nuts again until the necessary torque is
kept.
NOTE: If the torque of the tube nut decreases after the
____ fourth time you try to tighten it, replace the fuel manifold, fuel tubes or seals as necessary.
(c) Install the lockwire or safety cable and safety cable ferrule on the tube nuts for the fuel manifold (4) and the supply tube (1).

(6) S 084-329-N00Disconnect the compressed air source, the pressure gage, the vent valve, and the shutoff valve from the adapter.
(7) S 084-330-N00Remove the PWA 85579 adapter.
