C. Install the Engine Mount
DA 40 Series

Detail Steps/Work Items  Key Items/References 
(1)  Make sure that the engine mount is clean and not damaged. 
(2)  Move the engine mount into position on the firewall. 
(3)  Install the four outer bolts which attach the engine mount to the fuselage: S Install the washers on the bolts. S Push the bolts through the firewall and mounting pads. S Install the washers and nuts on the bolts. 
(4)  Attach the elastomer pack for the nose gear leg to the engine mount: S Move the eye end into position (in line with the center mounting pad for the engine mounting-fame). S Install the washer on the mounting bolt. S Push the mounting bolt through the eye end, the mounting pad and the firewall. S Install the washer and nut onto the bolt

(5)  Install the SlickSTART booster control unit or LASAR control unit: S Move the control unit into position on the engine mount. S Move the earth cable into position. S Install the washers onto the bolts S Push the bolts through the control unit and the mount. S Install the earth cable onto the top mounting bolt. S Install the washers and nuts onto the bolts. S If the LASAR system is installed, then connect the manifold pressure hose to the connector on the LASAR control unit. 
(6)  Install the voltage regulator onto the engine mount: S Put the voltage regulator into position on the engine mount. S Install the 4 washers and nuts which attach the voltage regulator to the engine mount. S Tighten the nuts.

% Section 71-21 % Engine Mounting - TAE 125 Diesel Engine % 1. General
% Tubular steel makes the engine mount. The engine mount has welded joints. Powder coating protects % the frame from corrosion. Welded brackets hold components such as the coolant radiator and the % intercooler. Rubber lined P-clamps and cable ties hold electrical cables and other items of equipment % to the engine mount.
% The engine mounting-frame has five small mounting pads at the rear of the frame. Bolts through the % pads attach the engine mount to the fuselage. The center mounting also supports the elastomer pack % for the nose gear leg.
% The engine attaches to the engine mount at three mounting pads. Large gel-filled rubber shock-% mounts go between the engine and the engine mount pads. These shock-mounts isolate the airframe % from engine vibrations.
