5. 4DTRAD and related Nav Activities
John Gonda presented the status of the 4DTRAD work, the presentation slides are 03_4DTRAD

Jean-Luis de Menorval presented the proposal to start developing the Navigation aspects related
to 4DTRAD within SC-214/WG-78. The presentation slides are 04_I4D NAV in SC214-WG-78.ppt
Geoff Burtenshaw presented an overview of the current status of the standardisation of navigation
aspect and a proposal for a way forward to further develop the work. The presentation slides are
05_Navigation Standardisation Aspects.ppt. Mr. Burtenshaw recommended that ED-75B/DO236B
should be the baseline for any future Navigation work.
A position paper was prepared for the Eurocae council which sumarises the options and the
proposed way forward. The paper is 06_4D Nav Discussion Paper.doc. The meeting generally
agreed with the content of the position paper, recognizing that some of the recommendations went
beyond the purview of the group. The meeting agreed to begin by ensuring the correct expertise
within the 4D-TRAD subgroup and start work on the navigation assumptions together with ADS-C
and CPDLC data link applications needed to support 4D-TRAD operations.

Thierry Lelievre presented the SG1/SG2 Progress report and this week’s subgroup meeting
