 (5) Other messages Some messages draw the pilot's attention on navigation accuracy change or on failure cases or on actions to be carried out. In most of cases, the message (displayed at the bottom of the DU) disappears as soon as the pilot performs the action or as soon as he presses the CLR key on his MCDU. A green arrow indicates that an other message will be displayed as soon as the current displayed message will be cleared.
 Messages :
 SET OFFSIDE RNG/MODE : (Amber) In case of ND range FCU CAPT different from ND range FMGC2 or ND range FCU F/O different from ND range FMGC1, and both DMC work with same FMGC.
 MAP PARTLY DISPLAYED : (Amber) If the amount of background data of the FMGC EIS bus to be transmitted exceeds 512 words, the FMC transmits only 512 words, by eliminating data in excess following priority criteria. In this case the FMGC sends a signal or a discrete word. It is the case if the ND image load is too big and some data (usually optional data) are not displayed.
 NAV ACCUR DOWNGRAD : (Amber) Signals a downgrading in the NAV accuracy :
 change from navigation class HI to LOW. NAV ACCUR UPGRAD : (White) Signals a upgrading in the NAV accuracy : change from navigation class LOW to HI. SPECIF VOR/D UNAVAIL : (Amber) If the navaid which is tuned for the selected approach is not available.

 GPS PRIMARY LOST : (Amber) This message is not clearable through the MCDU. But it has the lowest priority of all the possible messages displayed at this location in ROSE-NAV and ARC modes. It can be indicated in all ND modes. GPS PRIMARY : (White) When the GPS primary status is recovered. This message can be cleared through the MCDU. This message can be displayed in all ND modes.

 ND 1(2 or 3) switching test messages A switching test is performed on the ground from the MCDU to check that the digital link between the DMC and the DU is valid. The message : ND 1 (2 or 3 depending upon the the DMC linked to the DU) is displayed in magenta above the heading scale if the test is succesful.

 Feedback messages A safety function is implemented in the DU to monitor the display of the critcal parameters (the heading, for example is a critical parameter). A feedback message is displayed as soon as a discrepancy occurs between what is sent by a sensor and what is actually displayed on the relevant DU. The feedback messages are displayed on the left and right upper corners. (Ref. Fig. 017) Here is the list of the feedback messages displayed on the ND:

 (8) System monitoring messages Each DU is monitored by the other parts of the system. When, after installing a part of the system there is still a mismatch between the parts, the message DISPLAY SYSTEM VERSION INCONSISTENCY is displayed in amber in the upper part of the ND.
 When the DU is no more monitored, the message DU NOT MONITORED is dispayed in amber at the same location.
