Power Plant Removal - Bootstrap Method
______________________________________ Remove the Power Plant
S 024-224-C00 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE ENGINE HAS SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE AND THAT ALL_______
DISCONNECTS HAVE BEEN DONE. OCCUR. DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND STRUT CAN
(4) Lower the engine as follows: (a) Make sure the attitude of the lowered engine is the same as the attitude of the strut.
(5) S 214-049-C00Carefully monitor the engine to make sure that all disconnect and separation points have been made.
(6) S 024-050-C00As you lower the engine, adjust the attitude until all cradle attach pads touch the transportation base at the same time.
(7) S 494-051-C00Attach the cradle to the transportation base with the attached hardware. (a) Use the four ball-lock pins.

CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL CAPS ON THE PNEUMATIC DUCTS. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE CAPS ON THE DUCTS, CONTAMINATION CAN OCCUR.

Install protective caps on the ducts and the precooler to keep contamination out of the pneumatic system.

Do these steps to disconnect the transportation base/cradle/engine assembly from the bootstrap equipment:
(a)
Remove the lever hoists from the two forward cradle mounts.
(b)
Remove the inboard and outboard forward cradle mounts from the cradle.
(c)
If it is necessary, remove the two forward dynamometers.
(d)
Remove the lever hoist from the aft attach point.
(e)
Remove the cable from the aft dynamometer.
(f)
Put the cable through the aft cradle pulleys and disconnect the cable from the aft lever hoist.
(g)
If the pulleys are not installed on the replacement engine cradle, remove the pulleys from the cradle and install them on the other cradle.

If you will remove the PRSOV from the engine, do these steps (Figs. 404 and 405):
(a)
ENGINES WITH THE DOWNSTREAM SENSE LINE TO BLEED AIR REGULATOR; At the PRSOV port, disconnect the downstream sense line to the bleed air regulator.
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL A CAP ON THE PRESSURE LINE. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL A CAP IN THE LINE, CONTAMINATION CAN OCCUR.
1) Install a cap on the line and the port on the PRSOV.
(b) At the PRSOV port, disconnect the control line to the bleed air regulator.
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL A CAP ON THE PRESSURE LINE. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL A CAP IN THE LINE, CONTAMINATION CAN OCCUR.
1) Install a cap on the line and the port on the PRSOV.
(c)
ENGINES WITH THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR (D1204) AT THE STRUT FIREWALL; Disconnect the clamp (5), bolt (2), washer (3) and nut (4) that attach the W1508 wire bundle to the PRSOV bracket (Fig. 403).
(d)
ENGINES WITH THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS (D1208 AND D1210) AT THE PRSOV BRACKET; Do these steps to disconnect the W1508 wire bundle from the PRSOV bracket (Fig. 403): 1) ENGINES WITHOUT THE CAPTIVE FASTENER CLAMPS;
Disconnect the 2 clamps (6), bolts (2) and washers (3) that attach the W1508 wire bundle to the PRSOV bracket.
2) ENGINES WITH THE CAPTIVE FASTENER CLAMPS; Disconnect the 2 clamps (12) that attach the W1508 wire bundle to the PRSOV bracket.
3) Keep the fasteners loosely attached to the wire bundle.
(e)
Remove the PRSOV.

Remove the power plant from the work area (Fig. 420).

CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE ENGINE AWAY FROM THE
_______ AIRPLANE. DAMAGE TO THE THRUST REVERSERS AND ENGINE CAN OCCUR IF THE ENGINE HITS THE THRUST REVERSER.
