(b)  
Make sure these switches are in the OFF position:

 1)  P5 Pilot's Forward Overhead Panel
 a) Engine 1 BLEED
 b) Engine 2 BLEED
 c) APU BLEED

 (c)  
Put the applicable ENG ANTI-ICE switch in the ON position.

 NOTE: Make sure the COWL VALVE OPEN light comes on bright
____ (this indication shows valve movement) and then dim (this indication shows the valve fully open).
 (d)  
Make sure there is an increase in the EGT of
 approximately 15°C.

 (e)  
Put the ENG ANTI-ICE switch in the OFF position.

 NOTE: Make sure the COWL VALVE OPEN light comes on bright
____ (this indication shows valve movement) and then goes off (this indication shows the valve fully closed).
 (f)  
Move the forward thrust lever until the engine is in high idle.

 (g)  
Put the applicable ENG ANTI-ICE switch in the ON position.

 NOTE: Make sure the COWL VALVE OPEN light comes on bright
____ (this indication shows valve movement) and then dim (this indication shows the valve fully open).
 (h)  
Make sure there is an increase in the EGT of
 approximately 15°C.

 (i)  
Put the ENG ANTI-ICE switch in the OFF position.

 NOTE: Make sure the COWL VALVE OPEN light comes on bright
____ (this indication shows valve movement) and then goes off (this indication shows the valve fully closed).
 (j)  Make the engine idle stable at the low idle position and
 operate the engine for 5 minutes.

 If the engine was washed with only pure water, shut down the engine (AMM 71-00-00/201).

 If the engine was washed with detergent, do the steps that follow to remove all remaining detergent from the airplane bleed system.

 (a)  
Make the engine idle stable at the low idle position and operate the engine for 5 minutes. Run the engine as recommended above.

 (b)  
Start the second engine using crossbleed air from the first engine.

 (c)  
Shut down the first engine that was started.

 (d)  
Run the second engine as recommended above.

 (e)  
Dry motor the first engine which was shut down, using the crossbleed air from the running engine.

 (f)  
Run both packs using air from the running engine to ensure that no contaminants remain.

 (g)  
Shut down the second engine (AMM 71-00-00/201).
