 (13) If you must tighten the fuel line coupling again, disconnect the fuel line coupling and install new o-rings.

 A. General
 (1)  
This procedure installs shrouded fuel couplings found in the fuel line in the strut area. The installation is similar to the installation of the full flexible coupling except for additional components.

 (1)  Go to the applicable engine nacelle strut location (AMM 28-22-07/401).

Inspect the tube ferrule(s), coupling nut(s) and retaining ring(s) for damage.

 (a)  
If there is damage, make sure the damage or wear is within the permitted limit (AMM 28-22-07/601).

Do these steps to check the installation of the fuel couplings:

 (a)  
Make sure the O-rings are new and are not contaminated or damaged.

 (b)  
Make sure the O-rings are lubricated with petrolatum before the installation.

 (c)  
Make sure the retaining rings are new and are not deformed or bent.

 (d)  
Make sure all of the coupling components are installed and in the correct sequence.

 (e)  
Make sure the coupling is manually tightened.

 (f)  
Make sure the coupling is tightened as far as possible by hand.

 (g)  
Make sure the minimum and maximum dimensions are correct (Reference the shrouded coupling demensions, figure 203/Sht 2).

Procedure

 (1)  Do these steps if you must install a new coupling body:
 NOTE: If the coupling body is installed already, it is not
____
 necessary to do these steps.

 (a)  
Loosen or remove the fuel tube adjacent to the shrouded coupling installation (AMM 28-22-07/401).

 (b)  
Slide the coupling body onto the fuel tube (threads toward the coupling installation).

 (c)  
Install or align the fuel tube with the coupling body attached to the strut structure.

 NOTE: Do not tighten the fuel tube at this time.

 (2)  
Do these steps to prepare the strut fuel line for coupling
 installation:

 (a)  
Make sure the bulkhead body (fitting) and nut are installed and tightened to the bulkhead.

 (b)  
Make sure the front spar fitting is installed and tightened to the front spar.

 (c)  
Make sure the adjacent fuel tube is in position but the clamp blocks are not tightened.
