Use a sealant fairing tool and push the first fillet seals tightly into position (Fig. 807). 1) Apply all the first fillet seals. 2) Make sure all sealant fairing tools are clean. 3) Do not use solutions or lubricants to help the fairing

 tools move over the sealant. 4) Clean the fairing tools frequently with a clean gauze.

 (3)  
To apply the second fillet seal, do these steps:

 (a)  
The second fillet seal can by applied over the uncured first fillet sealant.

 (b)  
If the first fillet seal is cured, but is not clean, then it must be cleaned before you apply the second fillet seal.

 (c)  
Apply BMS 5-26 Type II, Class B or BMS 5-45 Class B sealant (or equivalent), a second time to make a full bodied fillet seal.

 NOTE: Use a larger nozzle for the second fillet seal.

 1) If you use an extruded nozzle, do the steps that follow: a) Cut the nozzle to make a fit of the dimensions shown in (Fig. 808).

 b)  Push the nozzle head against the surfaces such that the fillet seal you apply is thickest in the middle of the surfaces.
 NOTE: Keep the nozzle of the sealing gun near the
____ surface to prevent air bubbles.
 c) If you do not use an extruded nozzle, use a sealant fairing tool to make a full bodied fillet seal. 2) Remove all air bubbles and re-entrant fillet seal edges (Fig. 808).

 (4)  Apply the corrosion resistant finish (topcoat) if necessary
 (AMM 28-11-00/701).

 NOTE: Alodine and a topcoat of BMS 10-20, Type II primer is
____ necessary if bare metal is open to fuel after the repair.
 I.  Repair of Fastener Seals
 S 398-251
 (1)  Do one of these procedures to repair self-sealing rivets:
 NOTE: Self-sealing rivets are often used in skin panels in the fuel
____ tank area. If you find a fuel leak at a rivet, you must replace the rivet to make a permanent repair. You can make a temporary repair if you make a permanent repair the next time you go into the fuel tank, refer to (SRM 51-40-00).
 (a)  
Apply sealant to a self-sealing rivet with a sealing tool (Fig. 809).

 (b)  
Apply sealant to a self-sealing rivet with a temporary repair tool (Fig. 810).

 (c)  
Install a Click Patch

 (2)  Apply sealant to a self-sealing rivet with a sealing tool
 (Fig. 802, 810).

 NOTE: Use this procedure for fuel leaks at mechanically sealed
____
 rivets only.

 (a)  
Clean the surface of the adapter with emery cloth if it is necessary.

 (b)  
Remove the paint from around the rivet that leaks.

 (c)  Clean the surface with Series 93 solvent (AMM 20-30-93/201).
 NOTE: Do not touch the surface with your fingers after you

 WARNING:_______DO NOT LET THE ADHESIVE TOUCH YOUR SKIN. THE ADHESIVE CAUSES INJURY TO SKIN.
 (d)  
Use a cotton-tipped stick to apply a thin layer of Eastman 910 adhesive to the surface of the adapter, Step 1, (Fig. 809).

 (e)  
Put the adapter over the center of the rivet and tightly push against the wing surface for 10 seconds, step 2, (Fig. 809). 1) Release your hold on the adapter. 2) Do not touch the adapter for 15 minutes.
