hours solo time. If you hold an
aeroplane licence with night
privileges, night time in
aeroplanes counts towards the
total dual and solo night time, if
you have, at night, in
helicopters, at least 1 hour dual
and 1 hour solo time, and the 37
hours dual and 23 hours solo
requirements are met.
Your DND wings are the equivalent
of the ground school, written exam,
course and PPL requirements, if you
have the experience, which must
include at least 10 hours in
aeroplanes in the last 12 months, and
you get at least 60% in the ARPCO
or HARPC exam.
Credits for Foreign Applicants
Your CPL (or higher) exempts you
from ground school.

Unless otherwise mentioned, all
references concern the appropriate
class of aircraft.
Privileges
You may:
·  exercise privileges of private
and commercial licences for the
appropriate class
·  with a Group 1 IR, act as PIC
or co-pilot of a two-crew
aeroplane in a commercial air
service if the type is endorsed
on your licence or, for
helicopters, act as PIC or copilot
with any helicopter
endorsed on your licence
Age
You must be at least twenty-one.
Medical Fitness and Validity
You must hold a Category 1
Medical, which is valid for 12
months if you are under 40 and 6
months if you are over, but you may
exercise PPL privileges until the end
of the usual PPL period. The licence
is maintained by a valid Category 1
Medical Certificate.
Knowledge
For aeroplanes, you must get at least
70% in each of three exams, namely
Meteorology, Radio Aids and Flight
Planning (SAMRA), Air Law,
Aeroplane Operation and
Navigation General (SARON) and
Instrument Rating (INRAT).
For helicopters, you need at least
70% in each of two written exams,
HAMRA and HARON.
Experience
Aeroplanes
The training for an unrestricted
CPL, at least 1500 hours (900 in
aeroplanes), to include at least 250
hours PIC, which may include up to
100 under supervision. Both must

include at least 100 hours crosscountry,
at least 25 hours by night.
Also, 100 hours night (P1 or P2), at
least 30 in aeroplanes. 200 hours
cross-country as co-pilot in an
aeroplane that needs one, or 100
additional hours cross-country as
PIC, which may have been part of
the 250 hours mentioned above, and
75 hours instruments, of which up
to 25 hours can be done in approved
ground trainers, and up to 35 hours
in helicopters. Instrument ground
time does not count toward the total
1500 hours.
Helicopters
The training requirements for an
unrestricted CPL(H), and at least
1,000 hours, 600 in helicopters.
Total time must include at least 250
hours PIC in helicopters (150 under
supervision – see below), 50 hours
night as PIC or co-pilot (15 in
helicopters), 200 hours helicopter
cross-country, at least 100 hours
being PIC or PIC under supervision,
30 hours instrument time, of which
up to 10 may be instrument ground
time, and up to 15 acquired in
aeroplanes. Instrument ground time
does not count toward the total
1,000 hours.
Skill
In the last 12 months, you must have
demonstrated in a multi-engined
aeroplane with no central thrust
configuration, and fitted for IFR in
controlled airspace, competence in
appropriate normal and emergency
flight procedures and a Group 1
instrument rating (you can only have
a group 1 for the initial issue).
For helicopters, you must have
demonstrated, in flight and on the
ground, your competence as PIC of
a helicopter that needs a co-pilot (in
