R (a) Clean all bonding surfaces with acetone (Material No. CP1039) or R isopropyl alcohol (Material No. CP1041) or stoddard solvent R (Material No. CP2011) or ardrox 552 (Material No. CP2559) or R turco ind 79 (Material No. CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material R No. CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No. CP2584) or mag-chem R skysol (Material No. CP2656) and a lint-free cloth.

 B. Installation of the Aerodynamic Strake on the Fan Cowl Door
 NOTE : Installation of the aerodynamic strake on the right or left fan
____
 cowl door is the same.

 (1) If necessary, remove the sealing compound from the strake fastener holes. Use a plastic dowel with a diameter smaller than the fastener hole to push the sealant out of the holes.

 (2) Align the back plate (15) with the boltholes on the inner part of the fan cowl door and hold in place.

 (3) Align the strake (10) with the boltholes on the outer part of the fan cowl door and hold in place.

 (4) Install the bolts (5), the washers (20), and the nuts (25) at the two forward and two aft bolthole positions.

 (5) TORQUE the nuts (25) to between 20 and 25 lbf.in (0.22 and 0.28 m.daN).

 NOTE : An electrical bond resistance check shall be made before the
____ other bolts, washers, and nuts are installed.
 (6) Do an electrical bond resistance check as follows:
 (a) Put one lead of the ohmmeter on the head of a bolt (5) at the bonding strap.

 (b) Put the other lead of the ohmmeter on the surface of the bonding strap.

 (c) The resistance measured between the ohmmeter leads must not be more than 0.0025 ohm.

 (d) If the resistance is more than 0.0025 ohm, remove the bolts (5), the washers (20), and the nuts (25) and clean the mating surfaces again. Do this procedure until the resistance is less than 0.0025 ohm.

 (e) When the bonding resistance is correct, install the other bolts (5), washers (20), and nuts (25).

 (f) TORQUE the nuts (25) to between 20 and 25 lbf.in (0.22 and 0.28 m.daN).

 C. Seal the electrical bond surfaces and the boltheads as follows:

 (1) Clean the area around the surface of the strake (10) and the fan cowl R door with acetone (Material No. CP1039) or isopropyl alcohol R (Material No. CP1041) or stoddard solvent (Material No. CP2011) or R ardrox 552 (Material No. CP2559) or turco ind 79 (Material No. R CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No. CP2566) or degreasol 99 R R (Material No. CP2584) and a lint-free cloth.
 (2) Dry the surface with a clean cloth before the solvent evaporates on the surface.

 (3) Mix the two parts of the sealant PR1422 A (Material No. CP2428) in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

 NOTE : The sealant should not be applied when the ambient temperature
____
 is below 50 deg.F (10 deg.C).

 (4) Apply a layer of sealant between 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) and 0.020 in.
 (0.51 mm) thick around the edges where the bonding strap touches the back plate (15).

 (5) Push the sealant into the gap on the under side of the back plate (15).

 (6) Mix the two parts of the Dow Corning 93-006 sealant (Material No. CP2497) in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

 (7) Apply the sealant to the head of the bolts (5) to make a smooth surface on the base of the strake.

 (8) Let the sealants cure for a minimum of 36 hours in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

 (9) To decrease the cure time, let the sealants gel at ambient temperature for a minimum of 2 hours.
