 S 394-017
 (5)  Seal the edges.
 (a)  If you painted up to the edges of decals, seal the edges of the decal with paint. 1) If the decal has a premask, remove the premask only after
 you apply the last layer of paint up to the decal.
 NOTE: If the edges are not sealed with paint, then apply
____ edge sealer to the decal.
 (b)  
Use a brush to apply Desothane edge sealer and activator or clear base 632-3-2 with X-310A catalyst (edge sealer) to the edges of the decals that follow.

 (c)  
Extend the edge seal to a minimum of 0.2 inches around the decal and 0.2 inches on the decal.

 (d)  
Make sure you have a dry film thickness of 0.001 to 0.002 inches.

 NOTE: To make sure there is sufficiant edge seal thickness,
____ two applications of edge sealer may be required.
 (e)  
Dry the edge sealer for a minimum of 30 minutes.

 (f)  
Seal the edges of presssure-sensitive polyester decals per AMM 51-21-61/701.

 (g)  
Use a brush to apply the applicable color of BMS 10-11, Type 2 enamel on all open exposed rivet or fastener heads on pressure-sensitive polyester decals. Make an overlap on the edge of the decal of 1/4 inch.

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains one task. The task is the repair of external decals.
 B.  You can repair damaged external decals with patches of decals that are almost the same. You must replace damaged internal decals.

 (1)  
Cut and remove all loose decal film but be careful not to cut the airplane skin.

 S 808-003

 (2)  
Cut a patch of decal film of the same type and color as the initial decal. Make the patch of sufficient size to make a 1/4-inch overlap on the part of the decal that is not damaged.

 (3)
To apply the patch, refer to 20-10-11, Removal/Installation.

 (4)  
Seal the edges all around the repair. Use the edge sealer specified in 20-10-11, Removal/Installation.

 PRESSURE-SENSITIVE PLACARDS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure contains one task. The task is the replacement of interior vinyl placards.
 B.  Vinyl placards do not easily make a good fit on the contour of a rough or textured surface. The placards will touch only the high points and have an unsatisfactory bond. You will use an adhesive to get a smooth surface that will give the placard a strong bond.
