 (b)  For the secondary heat exchanger, install the bolts, washers, and spacers (if installed) that attach the heat exchanger to the two clip assemblies and to the flexible duct.
 NOTE: The spacers are installed on the forward end of the heat
____ exchanger. Make sure the short spacer is installed between the forward clip assembly and the flexible duct flange.

 (3)  Install the bolts that attach the heat exchanger to the lower wing beam.
 (a)  Examine the bolts that attach the lower surface of the ram air inlet duct to the outer flanges of the primary and secondary heat exchangers: 1) It is recommended that all fractured titanium bolts be
 replaced with steel bolts (SL-21-039-B).
 NOTE: You can tell a titanium bolt from a steel bolt.
____ A titanium bolt has a black line on the chamfered end of the shank of the bolt.

 (4)  Tighten the bolts that attach the heat exchanger to the lower wing beam as follows:
 (a)  
Torque the steel bolts at 20 to 25 inch-pounds.

 (b)  
Torque the titanium bolts (AMM 20-50-11/201).

 NOTE: You can tell the titanium bolts from the steel
____ bolts. The titanium bolt has a black line on the chamfered end of the shank of the bolt.

 (5)  Align the heat exchanger with the duct connections:
 (a)  
Adjust the length of the support rods until the duct connections on the heat exchanger align with the ducts.

 (b)  
After the final adjustment, install lockwire to keep the support rods in the adjustment.

 (6)  Install the duct between the 35 degree F valve and the air mix valve:
 (a)  
Install the 35 degree F valve if you removed it
 (AMM 21-51-51/401).

 (b)  
Install the duct.

 (c)  
Install the clamp that is downstream of the air mix valve.

 (d)  
Align the duct.

 (e)  Install the V-band clamp that is upstream of the 35 degree F valve.

 CAUTION: KEEP A 1/2-INCH CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE AIR CONDITIONING DUCT
_______ AND THE HEAT EXCHANGER. THE CLEARANCE WILL NOT LET THE DUCT AND THE LOWER EDGE OF THE SECONDARY HEAT EXCHANGER TO TOUCH. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (7)  
Install the V-band clamps that attach the heat exchanger to the air conditioning ducts.

For the right heat exchanger, install the turbofan duct section.

Install the section of the purge line for the air cleaner.

 Install the inlet lip of the heat exchanger.

 Install the inspection doors for the inlet duct for the ram air.

 Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 Pressurize the pneumatic system to approximately 25 psi (AMM 36-05-00/201).

 Operate the air cycle system of the air conditioning (AMM 21-00-00/201).

 Hold the temperature selector to manual COOL until the air mix valve moves to full COLD.

 Move the temperature selector to OFF.
