(16) Install the rod assembly between the two actuator levers:
(a)
Adjust the rod length until the bolt can go smoothly through the rod end and actuator lever.
(b)
Make sure that you can see the bearing threads of the rod end through the inspection hole in the rod assembly. Adjust the rod assembly if it is necessary.
NOTE: The nominal length of the rod assembly is 9.43 inches.

(c)
Tighten the locknut on the rod end.
(d)
Install the bolt, washer, and nut.
NOTE: The bolt must go smoothly through the rod end and

(17) Move the aft quadrant lightly. Make sure that the trailing edge of right elevator aligns with the index mark on the tail cone |0.06 inch.

(18) Install the rod assembly between the actuator A lever and torque tube lever:
(a) The bolt should go smoothly through the rod end and actuator A lever. If adjustment is necessary, loosen the rod assembly jam nuts and make the adjustment.
NOTE: The nominal length of the rod assembly is 17.52 inches.

(b)
Make sure that you can see the rod end threads through the inspection hole at both ends of the rod assembly. Adjust the rod assembly if it is necessary.
(c)
Tighten the jam nuts on the rod ends.
(d)
Install the bolt, washer, and nut.
NOTE: The bolt must go smoothly through the rod end and

(c) (d) (e) (f) Connect the VTVM to the LVDT FEEDBACK - A J10A and J11A.Use the POSITION CONTROL A to align the elevator with the index mark |0.06 inch (|0.10 degree).Make sure that the VTVM reads 2.00 |0.03 volts. If it is not, do a check of the elevator rigging. Lock the POSITION CONTROL A in its position.Set up the conditions as shown in the table below. Make sure that the right elevator positions are in the tolerances as in the table.
NOTE:____ Set the SOLENOID A switch to the A NORM position after each condition.
