(2) Remove the autopilot disengage switch:
(a) At the center of the control wheel, remove the medallion cover, the approach plate assembly (7), and the sponge rubber pad (8).
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the terminal block
____
insulator.
(b) Use the extraction tool to disconnect the eight wires on top of the terminal block insulator.
NOTE: Do not disconnect the wire that has the red and white
____
stripes.
(c)
Attach one end of the threading wire around the wire bundle (eight wires) that connect to the switch.
(d)
Remove the screw (3) from the switch plate (2).
(e)
Pull the switch (1) and the wire bundle through the control wheel horn (5).
NOTE: Permit approximately 3 inches of the threading wire to
____ come out of the control wheel.
(f)
Remove the threading wire from the wire bundle.
(g)
Remove the switch plate (2) from the switch.

(1) Threading Wire - 30-inch length of standard wire (No. 18 to 22 gage), without insulation if possible.

(2) Install the autopilot disengage switch:
(a)
Apply some wet primer on the threads of the switch and the switch plate.
(b)
Install the switch plate (2) on the switch.
(c)
Attach one end of the threading wire, the end that comes out from the wheel horn, around the wire bundle (eight wires).
(d)
Pull the wire bundle down through the control wheel horn with the opposite end of the threading wire.
(e)
Tighten the switch plate (2) to the control wheel horn with the screw (3).
(f)
Remove the threading wire from the wire bundle.
(g)
Use the insertion tool to connect the wire bundle (eight wires) to the wires in the control column (Ref Table 401).
