If you will do a check of the No. 1 tank, defuel the center tank (AMM 28-23-00/201).
(c)
Manually close the removal valve for the center tank boost pump. 1) For the No. 1 tank, close the LH pump valve through the
access panel, No. 7201. 2) For the No. 2 tank, close the RH pump valve through the access panel, No. 7401.
(d)
Make sure these valves are closed:
1) The APU fuel valve
2) The crossfeed valve
3) The engine fuel shutoff valve
(e)
Remove the access panels, No. 13 and 14, for the applicable wing tank (AMM 28-11-11/401).
(f)
Go into the surge tank through the No. 13 panel.
(g)
Install plugs in the vent duct for the center tank and the surge tank drain. 1) Install the vent plug, F80080-100, in the vent duct for the
center tank.
2) Install the structural vent cover assembly, F80080-56, in the rectangular opening in the vent duct for the center tank.
3) Install the plug assembly, F80080-55, on the opening to the drain line for the surge tank.
(h)
Remove the blower and the air mover that you used for the fuel tank purging and entry procedure.
(i)
Install the Surge Tank Pressure Door Assembly, F80080-82 in the access opening, No. 13 (AMM 28-13-00/601).

Install the vent scoop closure plug, F80080-88, in the access opening No. 14.

(2) Prepare the center tank (Fig. 614).
(a)
Do this task: Fuel Tank Purging and Entry Procedure
(AMM 28-10-00/201) for the center tank.
(b)
Manually close the removal valves for the left center tank boost pump (access panel No. 7201) and the right center tank boost pump (access panel No. 7401). 1) Remove access panel for the center wing tank
(AMM 28-11-31/401).
2) In center wing cavity No. 3, install a float valve closure plug, F80080-8, between the valve float arm and the float down stop. (This blocks the float valve).
3) In the center wing cavity No. 2, install two drain valve plugs, F80080-112, on the lower end of the check valves for the vent drain.
NOTE: Do not put plugs in the check valves for the
____ vent drain on the left and right open end loop vent ducts in cavity No. 2.
4) Put a plug in the forward vent tube in the center wing cavity No. 1. a) Remove the bonding jumpers from the center section vent
tube (a T-fitting) that connects the left and right vent tubes. b) Disengage the center section vent tube from the left and right vent tubes. c) Remove the clamps that hold the center section vent tube to the spanwise beam. d) Remove the bolt that attaches the tube support bracket
to the stringer. e) Remove the tube. f) Install the tube plug assemblies, F80080-49, in the two
open ends of the remaining left and right vent tubes. 5) Remove the blower and the air mover that you used for the fuel tank purging and entry procedure.
6) Install center tank pressure test door, F80172-1 or F80148-1 (AMM 28-11-31/401). a) Attach a pressure source and the pressure gage
