 (1)  
Install the battery into the battery casing.

Put the battery cover on the battery casing with the open slots in line with the tabs.

Release the battery cover and make sure it is attached correctly. Make sure the battery does not move in the casing.

 NOTE: If necessary remove the battery and put in more top battery
____ cushions to prevent movement of the battery pack. Make sure the two holes in the battery casing are not blocked by the battery cushions.

Remove the battery cover and the battery cushion.

Put a piece of shrink sleeving on each battery lead.

Connect the red battery lead to the red lead on the battery casing and the black battery lead to the black lead on the battery casing.

Solder the connections.

 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE BATTERY CONNECTIONS ARE WATER TIGHT.
_______ LEAKS CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE TRANSMITTER BECAUSE OF ELECTRICAL LEAKAGE OR ELECTROLYTIC CORROSION.
 (8)  Use a heat gun which can supply heated air at approximately 275 degrees fahrenheit to install the shrink sleeves on the sheath connectors.
 NOTE: Do not apply too much heat.

Put the battery cushion in the battery casing.

 Put the battery cover on the battery casing with the open slots aligned with the tabs. Be careful not to pinch the battery leads.

 Push the battery cover against the cushion and turn it until the locking slots are aligned with the tabs on the battery casing.

 FLIGHT COMPARTMENT SMOKE SHUTTER - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure contains these tasks.
 (1)  
The removal of the smoke shutter.

 (2)  
The installation of the smoke shutter.

 (3)  
An operational test of the smoke shutter.

 (4)  
An adjustment of the smoke shutter.

 B.  The smoke shutter attaches to the fuselage structure above the flight compartment door. The pilots use a tee handle to open and close the smoke shutter. The tee handle is between the P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panels. The tee handle attaches to a cable which attaches to the smoke shutter.
 C.  The shutter assembly is installed on the aft control cabin ceiling. Access to the mounting screws is on top of the airplane. The shutter assembly must be supported from below during the removal and installation.
 D.  The smoke shutter must remove the smoke from the flight compartment during the pressurization of the airplane. Thus it is necessary to make sure the operation and the adjustment of the smoke shutter is correct.
