Remove the left side panel from the control stand to get access to the lever (AMM 76-11-03/201).

Remove the assembly of the parking brake lever.

 (a)  
Remove the nut (11), washer (12) and screw (10) at the lower end of the rod assembly (7).

 (b)  
Disconnect the lower end of the rod assembly (7) from the inboard lever.

 (c)  
Remove the nut (5), washer (6) and bolt (8) at the higher end of the rod assembly (7).

 (d)  
Disconnect the higher end of the rod assembly (7) from the lever (1).

 (e)  
Remove the rod assembly (7).

 (f)  
Remove the nut (3), washer (4), pivot screw (9) and pivot bushing (2).

 (g)  
Disconnect the lever (1) from the control stand.

 (h)  
Remove the lever (1) from the control stand.

Procedure

 (1)  
Install the assembly of the parking brake lever.

 (a)  
Put the lever (1) into the slot in the top of the control stand.

 (b)  
Install the pivot bushing (2), pivot screw (9), washer (4) and nut (3).

 (c)  
Connect the rod assembly (7) to the lever (1) with the bolt (8), washer (6) and nut (5).

 (d)  
Adjust the rod assembly:

 1)  Temporarily connect the lower end of the rod assembly to the inboard lever with the screw (10), washer (12) and nut (11).
 2)  Measure the clearance between the top surface of the control stand and the lever (Fig. 401). 3) If the clearance is not 0.005 to 0.040 inch, disconnect the lower end of the rod assembly (7).

 4) 5) 6)  Do not remove the cotter pin from the clevis at the higher end of the rod assembly (7).Turn the lower end of the rod in increments of one half of a turn to get a clearance of 0.005-0.040 inch.Connect the lower end of the rod assembly to the inboard lever with the screw (10), washer (12) and nut (11).
 (2)  S 724-024Operate the lever (7) to make sure it moves smoothly.
 (3)  S 414-017Install the access panel on the left side of the control stand (AMM 76-11-03/201).
 (4)  S 414-018Install the ceiling panels (AMM 25-22-01/401).
