signal reception range limits determined LOA boundaries. Range
limits were based upon transmitter strength and terrain type with
appropriate modifications for actual experience. As implemented in
the FMS, the LOA is only a "convenience warning boundary" in
software, and does not force the LCS to navigate when inadequate
signals are present. It also does not relieve the flight crew of the
responsibility of knowing when the LCS may be used for IFR
navigation and when it must be deselected.

The second LCS status page is primarily a maintenance page.
ADDRESS [2L] - This cursor position accepts a hexadecimal entry
to access the LORAN computer.
LCS DATA - This is the response from the LORAN computer to the
ADDRESS entry.
S/W - This is the software version number of the LORAN computer.
A Loran Operating Area (LOA) is stored in the LCS memory. The
LORAN Status page will indicate whether the aircraft's position is
inside or outside the stored LOA

LCS Page 3 displays Loran Signal-to-Noise Ratios (SNR) and
interference frequencies. SNR values can range from 0 to 63 with
63 being the maximum. This is primarily a maintenance page and
appears as follows;

HEADING SOURCE
The heading source is displayed on DATA page 4 (General Data).
The heading source is automatically selected upon system
initialization, dependent upon sensor availability, according to the
following priority list:
The heading source priority list is different for each installed FMS in
a multiple system. The heading priority list for the first FMS is:
IRS 1, AHRS 1, ANALOG, IRS 3, IRS 2, AHRS 2;
And for the second FMS is;
IRS 2, AHRS 2, ANALOG, IRS 3, IRS 1, AHRS 1;
And for a third FMS is:
IRS 3, AHRS 1, ANALOG, IRS 1, IRS 2, AHRS 2.
NOTE: ANALOG represents the aircraft compass heading analog
output converted to digital format. ANALOG is not utilized
in some installations with multiple IRS sources. The
priority list for individual installations is a function of the
sensors available; however, the list will always follow the
order shown here.
The HDG SOURCE page is used for manual heading source
selection. It is accessed from DATA page 4 by pressing the LIST
key with the cursor over the HDG entry field.

The current heading source is displayed just below the title line.
Pressing a line select key will activate that heading source and will
return the display to DATA page 4.
ANALOG [1L] - This denotes the aircraft synchro compass heading
converted to digital format.
OTHER FMS [5L] - This selects the same heading source used by
the opposite system in a dual installation.
RETURN [5R] - This returns the display to DATA page 4 with no
change in the heading source.
The system continuously scans the available sources selecting the
source with both a valid heading output and the highest priority. For
example, if the aircraft is configured with two sensors, IRS 1 and
AHRS 1, then AHRS 1 would be initially selected as the heading
source while IRS 1 is aligning. However, IRS 1 would automatically
