1. Press the DATA key to access Data page 1.
2. Press the PILOT DATA line select key.
Use the PILOT DATA SAVE option to create a Pilot Defined data
disk. The disk may be formatted using the FMS, or any MS-DOS
compatible computer. This disk may include Waypoints, Alignment
Points, Airports, Runways, Routes, Approaches, SIDs and STARS.
Additionally, it will include the reference data bases that are
associated with the SIDs, STARs, Approaches, and Runways.
Loading is accomplished in the same manner as the NAV Data
base.

Pilot-defined data provides or has provisions for the following:
Pilot Waypoints - 200 locations are reserved for pilots to input
identifiers and geographic coordinates of any point desired. These
pilot defined locations can be parking ramp coordinates, VFR
airports, or any other location. Once input, each pilot defined
location will be retained in the data base until it is manually removed.
Routes - Up to 200 routes (ordered sequence of waypoints or legs)
may be defined and stored in the data base. There may be up to 98
waypoints or legs in any one stored route; however, the total number
of route leg segments may not exceed 2,500.
Pilot Runways - The geographic coordinates and elevation of pilot
defined end-of-approach points may be input and stored in the
system’s non-volatile memory. The number of runways, which may
be defined and stored, is limited to 100.
Pilot Approaches - Memory space is allocated for the pilot to define
VFR, VOR, TACAN, ILS, LOC, BC and RNV approach courses and
glidepaths to the pilot defined end-of-approach points. GPS and
NDB approaches cannot be pilot defined. The number of
approaches, which may be defined and stored, is limited to 100.
Pilot Defined Departures and Arrivals - Pilot defined departures
and arrivals can be created using procedural legs. These are
accessible in the same manner as the prestored SIDs and STARs
described above. The FMS will store 100 pilot defined departures
and arrivals.
NOTE: An option is available in the FMS configuration to clear all
pilot data from the system at start-up. If this option is
enabled no pilot data will be available at initialization. A
STANDBY mode can be configured to allow the system to
be shut down for up to eight hours and retain pilot data.
Check with the Aircraft Flight Manual Supplement for the
specific configuration of your aircraft.

Data Input
Before constructing a procedure or route the user needs to
understand the basic data entry process. Data is manually entered
in two steps. First, the data is input onto the displayed page into the
cursor entry field. Once correct, the cursor’s data is stored in the
computer by pressing the ENTER key. Until the ENTER key is
pressed, the value in the cursor has no effect on other
parameters in the computer. Some cursor fields, such as latitude
and longitude entry fields, are restricted to numeric input only.
Waypoint identifiers may be input onto the cursor by using any of
three input processes: the Reference Number Input Process, the List
Input Process, and the Direct Entry Process.
Reference Number Input Process
This is the normal input process, and is built into many of the
following procedures. At appropriate times, the pilot is presented
with a list of selections on the display. These will often be waypoint
identifiers; however, the list is also used for the selection of routes,
navaids, etc. as appropriate. A reference number used to make the
selection precedes each option.
The selection is made by inputting the reference number into the
cursor and then pressing the ENTER key.
NOTE: • If the desired choice is not among those shown on the
display page, pressing the PREV or NEXT key to page
forward or backward will display additional choices when
available.
• If the reference number input into the cursor is in error,
pressing the BACK key will delete the entry.
• Pilot defined waypoint identifiers are displayed in a light
green color.

List Input Process
This is the process which is the easiest to use in the event that the
Reference Number input process does not present the desired
waypoint identifier as one of the available choices.
With the cursor over a waypoint entry field, pressing the LIST key
will cause the Normal LIST page to appear. A list of numbered
selections appropriate for the entry field will be displayed in a
