Designate Fly-Over Waypoint(s)
An overfly waypoint is a waypoint which will cause the navigation
computer to delay making an automatic leg change until the aircraft
is directly over the waypoint. An overfly waypoint is indicated by an
asterisk (*) following the waypoint identifier on the FPL (Flight Plan)
display page. The following procedure may be used to designate a
flight plan waypoint as an overfly waypoint:
1. Press the FPL function key to access the FPL (Flight Plan) page.
If the desired waypoints are not displayed, use the NEXT and
PREV keys to display additional flight plan waypoints.
2. Use the line select keys to position the cursor over the waypoint
to be defined as a overfly waypoint.
3. Press the OVFLY line select key. An asterisk (*) will appear
after the waypoint identifier indicating that it is a overfly
waypoint.
The waypoint overfly designation is removed in the same manner as
it was created; i.e., pressing the CNCL OVFLY key with the cursor
over the overfly waypoint identifier.

Vertical Navigation (VNAV)
VNAV General
The Vertical Navigation function allows the flight crew to define a
desired vertical flight profile along the flight plan route. It then
computes the aircraft deviation from that profile for display. The
flight profile is defined by two waypoints with reference altitudes, by
the aircraft present position plus one waypoint ahead of the aircraft,
or by one waypoint ahead of the aircraft and a target vertical speed.
A flight profile which results in a climb will provide VSR (Vertical
Speed Required) information only. Vertical waypoint identifiers are
prefilled automatically with the current flight plan waypoints (but with
no offsets or altitudes).
The VNAV function has three operating modes: Inactive, Cruise and
Descent. These modes are identified by the type of data displayed
and by the vertical deviation signal being transmitted. The current
mode is determined by the aircraft position relative to the defined
path.
• INACTIVE: VNAV will be in the Inactive mode until a vertical
"TO" waypoint and a vertical flight path (Target Vertical Speed)
to that waypoint have been defined.

• CRUISE: The VNAV function will enter the Cruise mode when
the "TO" waypoint and the vertical flight path have been
defined, the aircraft is not more than 200 feet below the
reference altitude of the "TO" waypoint, and the vertical flight
path will be intercepted ahead of the aircraft. The Cruise
mode shows the distance to the Top-Of-Descent (TOD) point
in nautical miles, that is, the distance along the flight plan until
the current altitude intersects the pitchover point to intersect
the vertical flight path. Flight Path Angle in degrees is
displayed under the Target V/S window. When VNAV is
selected for display on the ADI, vertical deviation will be
displayed prior to TOD capture point.

• DESCENT: The Descent mode is activated by crossing the
Top-Of-Descent point while in the Cruise mode or by selecting
the Vertical TO (VTO) function. Aircraft deviation from the
vertical flight path is displayed.
There are basically four different pages associated with the VNAV
function:
• VERTICAL NAVIGATION CRUISE PAGE - When VNAV is in
the Inactive or Cruise mode, this page provides the means to
define or intercept the vertical flight profile.

SUBJECT: VNAV Transition from enroute to approach.
APPLICABILITY: Aircraft which use pitch steering for
enroute and approach mode vertical guidance, such as Falcon
2000, 50EX, Astra SPX, Cessna Excel, Learjet 31, 45, 60 and
DHC-8.
If  the  aircraft  is  performing  a  flight  director/autopilot  coupled  enroute
VNAV  leg  to  the  approach  FAF,  a  VNAV  disconnect may  occur  when
approach  activates  before  the  FAF,  or  is manually activated by the pilot. 
This  automatic  VNAV  disconnect  is  intentional,  and  provides  protection
