DIST - The distance from the FAF (Final Approach Fix) to the MAP
or runway. The distance is computed based on the runway data
when a known location is entered in the FAF entry field. This may
be overwritten in which case the pilot entered distance will be used
to define the MAP. If no name has been entered in the FAF entry
field or the runway is not defined in the runway data base, this field
will initially be blank and the distance must be entered.
If course and distance are entered from the FAF, the FMS display
will read “FROM FAF TO MAP” above the INBD CRS and DIST line.
If runway coordinates from the data base are used to define the end
of approach point, the display will read “FROM FAF TO RUNWAY.”
DATE - The date of approach creation or the date on which the
approach was last modified is displayed for reference. The date
defaults to the current date when the approach is created or altered.

Approach Definition page 2 shows all the waypoints in the approach
in geographical order with their altitudes. Initially, during approach
creation, this page will show only the FAF and the RNWY or MAP
waypoint from the previous page (APPR page 1). This page allows
the entry of optional waypoints in the approach with altitude
assignments. One optional waypoint prior to the FAF and one
altitude restriction between the FAF and RNWY or MAP are provided
for. The altitudes entered on this page form the pseudo glide slope
which is followed in the NAV approach mode. Under the page title is
the name of the approach. No entries can be made on this line.
Optional Waypoint - Allows entry of an optional waypoint prior to
the FAF. This waypoint must be entered by name using the LIST or
alphanumeric input process. The location of this waypoint must be
farther from the runway or MAP than the FAF and must be on the
inbound course within ± 6°.
Optional Restriction - Allows for entry of an optional restriction
point between the FAF and the RNWY or MAP. The number
entered into this entry field (+--.-) is the number of miles beyond the
FAF at which an altitude restriction exists, and will be used as the
name of the optional waypoint. This number must be less than the
distance between the FAF and the RNWY or MAP.
Optional Waypoint Altitude - Allows for entry of an altitude
constraint in conjunction with the optional waypoint prior to the FAF.
The altitude constraint (in the middle of the line) must be defined as
AB (At or Above). The distance and flight path angle to the next
approach waypoint is displayed in small font.

FAF Altitude - The altitude constraint is always AT. The desired
altitude at the FAF is entered at this cursor position. This will result in
the computation of a flight path angle from the FAF to the RNWY or
MAP.
Optional Restriction Altitude - An altitude may be entered here if
its value is between the altitude at the FAF and the end-of-approach
point altitude. The altitude constraint is always AB (at or above).
End-of-approach Altitude - The end-of-approach (RNWY or MAP)
waypoint altitude. This altitude constraint is always AT. If the runway
elevation is stored in the runway data base, this altitude will be used.
If the end-of-approach is a MAP, the missed approach altitude must
be entered.
FPA - The Flight Path Angle (FPA) from the FAF to the end-ofapproach
waypoint. This is computed if an FAF altitude is entered.
A number may be entered here; in which case a new FAF altitude is
computed.
NOTE: FPA is always computed between the FAF altitude and the
end-of-approach altitude. Entry of an optional altitude
restriction between these two points will not change the
displayed angle, though it may result in a bent glide path.

Approach Definition Page #3 (Missed Approach)
Approach Definition page 3 is used to define missed approach legs.
To define a missed approach leg, press the line select key to the left
of the point to be defined. The system will prompt the operator for
entry of a LEG PATH and LEG TERMINATOR for each leg of the
procedure defined. Menu pages for each LEG PATH and LEG
TERMINATOR will retrieve input pages for entry of the appropriate
data. Optional inputs for these legs will be turn direction and
advisory altitude constraints.
