INDICATING - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

 1. General_______
 The three hydraulic systems have sensors which monitor the condition of the systems. The sensors monitor
 -
the contents of the reservoirs (Ref. 29-31-00)

 -
the system pressure (Ref. 29-32-00)

 -
the output pressure of the pumps (not the electric pump of the Yellow system) (Ref. 29-32-00)

 -
the temperature of the hydraulic fluid (Ref. 29-33-00)

 -
the internal pressure of the reservoir (Ref. 29-34-00)

 The information from the sensors is sent to the flight compartment and used for
 -FAULT warnings on the overhead panel
 -audio warnings
 -MASTER CAUTION and MASTER WARNING lights
 -electronic centralized aircraft monitor (ECAM) displays (system and
 engine/warning displays).

 Deactivation of RAT Fault Warning on the ECAM Upper Display Unit

 RAT FAULT

 NOTE : Use this procedure together with the Master Minimum Equipment List
____ (MMEL). If the fault indication is because of a defect in the indication system it is permitted to dispatch the aircraft. It is also permitted to dispatch the aircraft if the defect is in the RAT ground test system (if the system is known to be in the "flight" condition). It is not permitted to dispatch the aircraft if the fault indication is because of a defect which could prevent operation of the RAT.
 NOTE : If any part of the system is deactivated, the aircraft can be
____ dispatched for one flight only. After that flight, the deactivated component must be reactivated and this procedure done again. This is to find any faults which were not shown because of the deactivation.

 A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
 (1)
 Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

 (2)
 Do the EIS start procedure (Upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only) (Ref. TASK 31-60-00-860-001).

 (3)
 On the ECAM control panel on the center pedestal, press the HYD pushbutton switch (P/BSW). Make sure that the ECAM lower Display Unit (DU) shows the HYD page.

 (4)
 Make sure that the ECAM upper DU shows the RAT FAULT indication.

 A. Deactivation of the RAT Fault Warning
 (1) Do a visual check of the left belly fairing to find if the RAT is extended. If the RAT is extended, there is a fault (unwanted extension of the RAT) which you must repair before you can dispatch the aircraft.
 NOTE : If the RAT is not extended, continue with the subsequent____ procedure.
 (2) Open the access panels 195BB and 197EB.
 (3) If it is available, install the SAFETY DEVICE - RAT (98D29207542000) on the RAT (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-860-001).
