B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING : OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.

(1)
Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
(2)
Make sure that the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration (Ref. TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(3)
Make sure that the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(4)
Make sure that the warning notices are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system:
-in the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel, - on the ground service panel of the Blue hydraulic system.
(5)
Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.

(6)
Make sure that the RAT is extended (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-869-001).
(7)
Make sure that the container is in position below the RAT.
4. Procedure

A. Preparation for Installation
(1)
Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(2)
Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(3)
Remove the blanking plug from the port (6). NOTE : Calculate the necessary thickness of the shim to give the

correct end float for the filter.
(4)
Measure the depth from the bottom of the filter housing (13) to the mating surface of the port (6). Write down this measurement as dimension 'A'.
(5)
Put the filter (8) with its closed end in the filter plug (11). Do not put the shim in the filter plug (11) at this time.
(6)
Make sure that the closed end of the filter has contact with the bottom of the filter plug (11).
(7)
Measure the distance between the end of the filter (8) and the mating face (12) of the filter plug (11). Write down this measurement as dimension 'B'.
(8)
Remove the filter (8) from the filter plug (11).
(9)
Make sure that the thickness of the shim (9) is such that the dimension 'B' is between 0.08 mm (0.0031 in.) and 0.20 mm (0.0078 in.) less than the dimension 'A'. If the dimension is correct without the shim (9), it is not necessary to install the shim.
