R When metallic clamping strip is used, it is necessary to protect the
R harness from the cutting edge with 5 layers of self-welding tape
R ABS5334.
C. Spare conduits and spare wires
R (Ref. Fig. 010)
R (1) To let more cables go through modification and maintenance
R operations, a spare convoluted-type conduit (PTFE or equivalent) can
R be related to the harness.
R (2) Sometimes, provisions must be made for more spare wires inside the
R protection.
R
R - The number of spare wires (of the same gauge as the functional
R wires) must be at least 20% of the number of functional wires in
the harness.
R - The spare wires must be identified with a sleeve that as a "spare
R wire" label and an insulating end cap NSA936601 at each end. Inside
R a bundle protection, the end cap must be wrapped with teflon tape
R ABS5330 to prevent chafing on the wire.

R _______1. General
R
This chapter gives the description and operation for flexible conduit. As a
general rule, flexible conduits are items used for mechanical protection
R with more flexibility (hinges), segregation (arc-tracking protection), but
R this depends on the type of flexible conduit and the areas. For more
R information refer to chapter: 20-33-30 (conduit selection paragraph).
R This family of conduit is flexible with a bend radius more important than
R convoluted conduit.
R The main flexible conduits installed on aircraft are divided in 2
R sub-families and have the codes that follow:

- Open (split) conduits:
ABS0596 - Split elastomer conduit
E0507 - Split textile conduit
EN6049-005 - Split textile conduit
EN6049-006 - Split textile conduit
R EN6049-007 - Split textile conduit
- Closed conduits:
ABS0125 - Fuel immersion conduit
E0389 - High temperature conduit
E0502 - High temperature conduit
E0559 - High temperature conduit
