R  - Take great care to prevent damage to the cables: 
R  .The insulation of the cables must not be damaged or deformed. 
R  .The cables must not lie between the fairlead and the raceway 
R  channel wall.

R  ____NOTE : When a cable is damaged or broken the standard procedure is to 
R  replace it with a cable that has the same P/N.

R  - Take care not to damage the surface protection of the raceway 
R  channel. 
R 
R  - Retain the loom in the raceway using the appropriate type of 
R  fairlead:
 Insert it on the tail of the harpoon tie until it rests on the
 cables. 
R  Attach it by inserting a retainer onto the tail of the tie until 
R  the cables are correctly held by the fairlead. 
R  If a raceway channel has no cable inside, do not install the 
R  fairlead in the channel.
 Make sure the retainer has been inserted in the correct direction
 so that it is locked and cannot be removed. Do not remove the
 excess tail of the harpoon tie at this stage.
 - When all the cable retention devices have been installed, the tails
 of the ties shall be attached using an extended neck tension tool
 selected to the appropriate tie setting. 
R  - When the retention devices have been attached remove the tails with 
R  cutters. 
R
 - Make sure that :
 No foreign objects remain in the raceway (e.g. cut off residues of
 harpoon ties).

 

 After each channel has been loaded with cables and attached with
 harpoon ties, fairleads and retainers, examine the looms to make
 sure they remain in position in the channel throughout their
 length. 
R  (4) Repair of cables in raceways
R  ____NOTE : When a cable is damaged or broken the standard procedure is to

R  ____NOTE : In some cases, a parallel splices NSA936809 and sealing sleeve 
R  NSA937493 will be used for wire repairs. 
R  Take care to install the splices : 
R  - with cables in each end (refer to 20-43-12 Figure 002) 
R  - fully enclosed within the raceway channel 
R  - within a straight section of the raceway 
R  - between harpoon ties 
R  - not on a curved or angled section 
R  - not at a gap 
R  - not under a cable tie or other fastener 
R  - fully visible for inspection 
R  - with the environmental sleeve that extends a minimum of 15mm 
R  either side of the splice barrel 
R  - with the sleeve fully shrunk onto the cable to make sure 
R  that the meltable liner gives environmental sealing of the 
R  spliced joint.

R  (5) Replacement of harpoon tie
 (Ref. Fig. 001, 002)
 - Great care shall be taken at all times during the replacement of
 raceway ties.
 This will usually require the removal of an existing tie.
 - Removal will usually require the cutting through of the located
 harpoon tie head, which is probably best carried out by the use of
 sidecutters. Since most harpoon tie heads are located in generally
 inaccessible positions, make sure that when the applicable head is
 being cut that adjacent harpoon heads are not damaged. Cutting
 tools do not damage the raceway or other surface treatments.
 - When the harpoon tie head is removed, do not try to pull the
 harpoon tie tail from the loom without first parting the cables to
 assist the passage of the tie platform at the base of the tie.
