 WARNING:_______ USE NITRILE GLOVES FOR SKIN PROTECTION AGAINST BMS 3-27
 (MASTINOX 6856K).  IF MASTINOX GETS ON YOUR SKIN, IMMEDIATELY
 REMOVE IT WITH WATER.  IF THIS MATERIAL GETS IN YOUR EYES,
 IMMEDIATELY FLUSH YOUR EYES WITH WATER AND GET MEDICAL AID.
 THIS MATERIAL CONTAINS VERY POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE AGENTS
 WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS.
 CAUTION:_______ REMOVE UNWANTED MASTINOX FROM SURFACES WHICH WILL BE
 LUBRICATED.  IF YOU APPLY MASTINOX TO JOINTS THAT TURN, FAILURE

 OF THE LANDING GEAR TO EXTEND OR RETRACT CAN OCCUR.
 (1)  Clean and lubricate all the bolts, the shafts, the washers, and the bushings.
 NOTE: Apply Mastinox 6856K to parts which are not lubricated with
____ grease after installation (AMM 12-21-11/301).
 NOTE: Apply a layer of MIL-PRF-23827, or the preferred grease BMS
____ 3-33 to parts which are lubricated with grease after installation (AMM 12-20-00/301).

 (2)  
Connect the reaction link to the universal (12).

 (a)  
Put the reaction link in its position in the universal (12) with the lock actuator lugs up.

 (b)  
Install the thread protector on the attachment bolt (13).

 (c)  
Install the bolt (13) with the head end up and remove the thread protector.

 (d)  
Add the washer and nut.

 (e)  
Tighten the nut in range of the driving torque plus 10 to 12 pound-feet lube torque.

 (3)  
Connect the reaction link (4) to the uplock crank (7).

 (a)  
Align the reaction link (4) with the uplock crank (7).

 (b)  
Apply a thin layer of compound, BMS 3-27, to the shank, under head, threads of the bolt (8) before installation (AMM 12-21-11/301).

 (c)  
Use the thread protector and install the bolt (8) and make sure that the bolthead is retained by the lug on the reaction link.

 (d)  
Install the washer, and the nut on the bolt (8).

 (e)  
Tighten the self-locking nut and measure the torque it takes to run it on the threads of the bolt (8).

 NOTE: The run-on torque is between 90 - 800
____ inch-pounds (10.2 - 90.4 newton-meters).

 (f)  Add 50 - 100 lb-in (5.6 - 11.3 newton-meters) to the measured run-on torque in the step above and tighten the nut for the final torque.
 S 434-018
 (4)  
Connect the lock actuators (1) and (6) to the lugs on the reaction link (7).

 (5)  
Tighten each nut 70 to 110 pound-inches.

 NOTE: Replace the nuts and/or add the AN960PD washer if it is
____ necessary to align the castellation with the cotter pin hole within the torque limits.

 (6)  
Lock the nuts with the cotter pins.

 S 434-021

 (7)  
Connect the side strut (10) to the reaction link.

 (a)  
Align the side strut with the lugs on the reaction link.

 (b)  
Install the thread protector on the top attachment bolt (9) of the side stut.

 (c)  
Install the bolt from the aft side and remove the thread protector.

 (d)  
Add the special washer (11) and the nut, and tighten 500 to 800 pound-inches lube torque.

 S 434-022
 (8)  
Connect the lock strut (3) to the reaction link.

 (a)  
Align the lock strut with the reaction link.

 (b)  
Use the thread protector and insert the bolt (5) from the keeper side of the lock strut.

 (c)  
Add the washer and the nut.

 (d)  
Install the keeper (14) with the washer and the bolt.

 (e)  
Tighten the nut on the bolt (5) hand tight.

 NOTE: If it is necessary, loosen the nut to align the nearest
____
 castellation with cotter pin hole.

 (f)  
Lock the nut with the cotter pin.

 (9)  
Install the downlock springs (2) (AMM 32-32-91/401).
