Put the bearing assembly in the holding fixture.

Remove the bearing from the bearing housing with spanner wrench.

For threaded bearing assembly with cotter pin, do the following steps:

 (a)  
Remove the cotter pin and the pin from the bearing assembly.

 (b)  
Remove the bearing from the bearing housing.

 NOTE: If the removal of the bearing is difficult, put the
____ bearing assembly in the holding fixture and remove it with spanner wrench .

 (4)
For shrink fit bearing assembly, do the following steps:

 (a)  
Remove the rivets that lock the ring nut to the bearing housing.

 (b)  
Put the bearing assembly in the holding fixture.

 (c)  
Remove the ring nut with spanner wrench and discard it.

 (d)  
Remove the bearing from the bearing housing with a mandrel.

 (5)
Do a check on the bearing housing for damage or distortion.

 (6)  
If the bearing housing is not damaged, clean and remove the grease from the bearing housing.

Procedure
 S 624-008
 (1)  
Apply a layer of corrosion preventive compound to the inside diameter of the bearing housing.

 S 424-009

 (2)  
For threaded bearing assembly with rivets, install the bearing (OHM 32-16-31).

 (3)  
For threaded bearing assembly with cotter pin, do the following steps:

 (a)  
Apply grease to the threads of the bearing housing and the bearing.

 (b)  
Turn the bearing into the bearing housing until it is down against the step on the housing.

 (c)  
Turn the bearing back to a minimum amount to align the slots.

 (d)  
Put a wooden dowel in the aligned slots to keep them aligned.

 (e)  
Drill a 0.1845 - 0.1855 hole in the bearing with the hole in the housing as a pilot.

 (f)  
Apply BMS 5-95 sealant to the shank of the pin.

 (g)  
Press fit the pin through the hole.

 (h)  
Remove the unwanted sealant but let sealant stay to make a fillet seal around the pin head.

 (i)  
Install the cotter pin.
