Install the antirotation bolt (1) from the top and install the washer and the nut by hand.

Tighten the trunnion pin nut (6) to run-torque plus 1000 - 1200 pound-inches lube torque. 1) Loosen the trunnion pin nut (6) and tighten it again to
250 - 750 pound-inches.
(e)
Put the retainer washer (5) on the serrations of the trunnion pin nut (6) and the lockbolt (4), (Fig. 406).
(f)
If it is necessary, adjust the position of the trunnion pin nut
(6)
to align with the hole in the retainer washer (5). Keep the nut (6) in the torque limits.
(g)
Install the washer and the nut on the two lockbolts (4) that extend through the lug on the trunnion pin (9) and the retainer washer (5). 1) Tighten the nuts to 100 - 150 pound-inches lube torque.
(h)
Tighten the nut on the antirotation bolt (1) to 30 - 40 pound-inches lube torque.

Apply mastinox 6856K to the bolt (5) immediately before you install it (AMM 12-21-11/301).
(c)
Install the bolt (5) with the head in the outboard direction and install the washer and the nut.
(d)
Tighten the nut to run-on torque plus 400 pound-inches.

Connect the reaction link (4) to the shock strut (Fig. 404).
(a)
Align the holes of the reaction link universal (3) and the trunnion link pin (6).
(b)
Install the thread protector on the spring support shaft (5).
(c)
Install the spring support shaft (5) through the reaction link universal (3) and the trunnion link pin (6) from the aft side.
(d)
Remove the thread protector and install the washer (2A) and the spring support cap (2).
(e)
Tighten the spring support cap by hand.
1) If necessary, loosen the ring support cap (2) to align the nearest castellation on the cap with the cotter pin hole in the spring suport shaft (5).
2) Lock the spring support cap (5) with the cotter pin.

(17) Connect the downlock springs (1) to the spring support shaft (5) and the spring support cap (2), (Fig. 404).
NOTE: You can use cords to extend the springs to align the spring
____ lugs with the support cap and the support shaft. With cords attached to the ends of the two springs and laid above the the trunnion link or the shock strut, you can pull the cords to extend the springs. You can alo use a spring expander assembly.
(a) Install the washers and nuts on the spring support cap (2) and the spring support shaft (5) and tighten to the standard torque. 1) Loosen the nuts to the nearest castellation to align the
cotter pin holes in the cap (2) and the shaft (5).
