Move the control wheels to the neutral position until the straightedge touches the edges of the thumbrests on the control wheels (Fig. 502).

 (b)  Make sure the maximum distance between one of the thumbrests and the straightedge is 0.05 inch.

Do this task: "Remove Electrical Power" (Ref 24-22-00/201).

Make sure the tension in cables ACBA and ACBB is in the limits (Fig. 501).

Do these steps only if you install a new aileron control bus cable ACBA or ACBB:

 (a)  
Remove the straightedge.

 (b)  
Tighten the cables to two times the value shown in Fig. 501.

 (c)  
Turn the control wheels through 20 full travel cycles.

If the cable tension is out of tolerance or you installed a new cable, adjust the cable tension:

 (a)  
Move the control wheels to the neutral positions. 1) Install the straightedge on the control wheels. 2) Make sure the spring-loaded cam is at the center (Section

 A-A, Fig. 502). 3) Remove the clip locks on the turnbuckles. 4) Loosen the cables ACBA and ACBB at the turnbuckles. 5) Adjust the cables to the tension shown in Fig. 501. 6) Make sure the tension is balanced in the two cables. 7) Remove the straightedge from the control wheels.

 (b)  
Operate the control wheels through a minimum of two full cycles. 1) Make sure the tension in cables ACBA and ACBB is balanced

 and not more than the limits. 2) Install the straightedge on the control wheels. 3) Make sure the distance between the thumbrest and the
 straightedge is not more than 0.05 inch. 4) Install the clip locks on the turnbuckles. 5) Remove the straightedge from the control wheels.
 (c)  
Remove hydraulic power (Ref 29-11-00/201).

 (d)  
Install the ceiling access panels if it is not necessary to adjust the aileron control body cables AA and AB.

 H.  
Adjust the Aileron Control Body Cables AA and AB (Control Wheels to Wheel Wells)

 (4)  S 865-038Manually move the captain's and first officer's control wheels to the neutral position. (a) Make sure you can easily install rig pin A/S-2. 1) If it is necessary, operate the trim switches and move the control wheel until you can easily install rig pin A/S-2.
 NOTE:____ The rig pin must stay in its hole to keep the trim system at the center for the subsequent adjustment.
 (5)  S 495-041Install the straightedge across the thumbrests on the captain's and first officer's control wheels. (a) Make sure the maximum distance between one of the thumbrests and the straightedge is 0.050 inch.
 (6)  S 715-043With rig pin A/S-2 and the straightedge installed, do these checks (Fig. 503): (a) Make sure you can easily install rig pins A/S-1 and A/S-3. (b) Make sure the roller of the trim and feel mechanism is in the center of the cam.
