Turn the aft end of the support beam inboard until it is clear of the ceiling panel.

 (o)  
Lower the aft end of the support beam. At the same time, move it aft and inboard until its forward end is clear of the ceiling panels.

 (p)  
Remove the screws that attach the retainer plate (for the upper bearing) to the jackshaft and remove the retainer plate.

 (q)  
Remove the screws that attach the retainer plate (for the lower bearing) to the jackshaft. 1) Remove the retainer plate and the support beam.

Prepare for the Installation

 S 494-014
 WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THE NOSE LANDING GEAR IS POINTED FORWARD. IF THE TIRES ARE NOT PARALLEL WITH THE AIRPLANE, THEY CAN TURN QUICKLY WHEN YOU REMOVE THE RIG PIN. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
Install the rig pin in the steering metering valve for the nose landing gear (Ref 32-50-00/201).

 (2)  
Make sure the rudder forward quadrant is not worn too much
 (Ref 27-21-06/601).

 (3)  
Install the upper bearing housing and the bearing on the jackshaft (Section A-A, Fig. 401).

Install the retainer plate for the upper bearing on the jackshaft and attach it with the screws.

 (a)  
Install lockwire on the screws.

Install the support beam, the bearing housing, and the bearing on the jackshaft.

 (2)  Install the bolts that attach the upper bearing housing to the upper
 support structure.

 (3)  Install the bolts for the support beam for the lower bearing.

 (4)  Install the drip shield panel, inboard of the rudder forward
 quadrant.

 (5)  Connect the ceiling support clip to the support beam and to the
 support tee.
 NOTE:____ If the ceiling support clip was initially connected to the
