 (h)  Install the backup rings (7).
 NOTE:____ Install the backup rings until the radius of each backup
 ring aligns the radius of the seal (6).
 (i)  Move one set of the lubricated spare into each groove in the
 lower bearing.

 Install the lower bearing assembly.

 (a)  
Put the gland nut, the retainer and the lower bearing on top of each other.

 (b)  
Measure the height and get the dimension A (section A-A, Fig. 802).

 CAUTION: KEEP THIS TOOL IN ITS POSITION WHILE YOU INSTALL THE
_______ PARTS. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO SEALS.
 (c)  Lubricate the seal guide tool with applicable hydraulic fluid
 and install into the outer cylinder.
 (d)  Move the assembled parts up into the outer cylinder (2) as much
 as possible by hand.
 (e)  Lubricate the inner surfaces of the gland seating tool.
 (f)  Put the tool halves 180 degrees apart on the inner cylinder
 (13).
 (g)  Apply force to the gland seating tool to put the assembled
 parts in the outer cylinder (2)
 1)  Use the jacks installed below the truck to lift the truck
 symmetrical.
 2)  Lift the truck until the gland nut (9) on the yoke touches
 the seating tool.
 WARNING:_______ DO NOT APPLY UNWANTED FORCE WITH THE JACKS.  THIS
 WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE YOKE, THE GLAND NUT AND THE
 SEATING TOOL.  IT ALSO CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 3)  Carefully lift the truck.
 4)  Carefully push the assembled parts into the outer cylinder
 until the parts move into the outer cylinder.
 5)  During the jack, make sure it moves freely.

 6)  Make sure not too much force is applied to seating tool through the gland nut (9) and the yoke.
 NOTE: Resistance will increase because of the seal
____ friction while the seal (6) moves into the seal guide tool. The resistance will decrease after the seal is through the guide.
 (h)  
Decrease the jack pressure lightly and remove the gland seating tool and the seal guide tool.

 WARNING:_______DO NOT LET YOUR SKIN TOUCH THE MATERIAL. CORROSION INHIBITION MATERIAL CONTAINS FLAMMABLE AND POISONOUS MATERIALS. SPEAK WITH THE MANUFACTURER, FIRE, INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE AND SAFETY ORGANIZATIONS, ON THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT, AND PROCEDURE FOR THIS MATERIAL. FLUSH ALL MATERIAL FROM THE SKIN OR FROM THE EYES IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER. PROVIDE MEDICAL AID TO ANY PERSON WITH AN INJURY IMMEDIATELY.

 (i)  
Apply the corrosion inhibition material to the gland nut threads.

 CAUTION: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE GLAND NUT (9) MORE THAN THE TORQUE
_______ LIMIT TO ALIGN THE SLOTS. TOO MUCH TORQUE DOES NOT MAKE A BETTER SEAL AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO PARTS.
 (j)  
Use the wrench adapter for the lower gland nut to install the gland nut (9).

 (k)  
Tighten the gland nut (9) 2100 to 2400 pound-inches.

 (l)  
Align the nearest lock tab slots.

 (m)  
Measure the dimension B (section A-A, Fig. 802).

 (n)  
Do a check that the dimension B is equal to (the dimension A minus 8.460 inches | 0.030 inches). 1) If the dimension B is less than the limits, disassemble the

 shock strut. 2) Examine for the twisted seals or the clearance between the parts.

 (o)  
Install the gland nut lockplate (5) after all parts are assembled and tightened correctly.

 NOTE: If tilt sensor was moved to help install gland nut, do
____ Adjust the Truck Tilt Sensor for the Wing Gear procedure (AMM 32-61-22/201).
 H.  Put the airplane back to its usual condition.

 (1)  Rub the open part of the inner cylinder (13) with hydraulic fluid specified on the shock strut nameplate.
