AIRPLANES WITHOUT THE SMALLER SPHERICAL BEARING (15); Apply sealant BMS 5-95 class B-2 sealant into the lower bore of the drag brace (9), and around the flange area of the bore. 1) Install the spherical bearing (15) in the bore of the drag
brace (9).
(c)
Apply BMS 5-95 class B-2 sealant to both sides of the washer (38).
(d)
Install the washer (38).
(e)
Install the key washer (16).
1) Align the inner tang on the key washer with the groove in the spherical bearing.
(f)
Install the bearing nut (19).
1) Tighten the bearing nut (19) with hand.

2) Remove excess sealant.
3) Permit the sealant to cure for two hours.
4) Tighten the bearing nut (19) to 600 pound-inches (68 nm).
5) Loosen the bearing nut if it is necessary to align the
nearest castellation on the nut with a tang on the key washer (16). 6) Bend a tab on the key washer into a castellation on the bearing nut to lock the assembly.

Prepare the lubrication insert (11) for the trunnion bolt (12).
(a)
Examine the O-rings (10) for damage or deterioration. 1) Replace the O-rings if it is necessary.
(b)
Apply a thick layer of grease to the O-rings (10), the lubrication insert (11), and the inner diameter of the trunnion bolt (12).
(c)
Install the O-rings (10) on the lubrication insert (11).
(d)
Lubricate the lubrication insert again if it is necessary.

Align the lockbolt holes on the lubrication insert with the lockbolt holes in the trunnion bolt.

Install the O-rings (21) on the lubrication insert (20).
(d)
Lubricate the lubrication insert (20) again if it is necessary.

(3) S 644-048Lubricate the surfaces of the washers (2, 4, and 7).
(4) S 494-024Install the thread protector on the trunnion bolt (12).
(5) S 424-025Connect the top end of the drag brace (9) to the trunnion fork. (a) Lift the drag brace (9) into the correct position with the hoist. (b) Install the trunnion bolt (12) with the lubrication insert (11) to connect the top of the drag brace to the trunnion fork.
