Procedure

 (1)  
Examine the attach points for too much worn areas, Lower Spindle Inspection (AMM 32-11-07/201).

 (2)  
Prepare the lubrication insert (7) for installation.

 (a)  
Examine the O-rings (8) on the lubrication insert (7) for worn areas or damage.

 NOTE: Replace them if it is necessary.

 (b)  
Apply a thick layer of grease on the O-rings (8), the lubrication insert (7), and the inner surface of the spindle bolt (9).

 (c)  
Move the O-rings (8) on the lubrication insert (7).

 (d)  
Lubricate the lubrication insert (7) if it is necessary.

 (e)  
Move the lubrication insert (7) and the O-rings (8) into the spindle bolt (9).

 (f)  Align the cross bolt holes to make the spindle pin assembly.

Clean all bolts, the nuts, the washers, and the bushings immediately before the installation.

Lubricate all bolts, the nuts, the washers, and the bushings immediately before the installation.

Procedure

 S 422-023
 (1)  Install the spindle, the washer (13), and the bracket (14).
 NOTE: hold them with the nut (15).

 (2)  Tighten the nut (15) 600 to 1200 pound-inches.
 NOTE: Loosen the nut to the nearest castellation.

Install the spring housing (12) and hold it with the pins (16).

 (a)  
Install the cotter pins.

 (4)  
Install the spring (19) and the pushrod assembly (11) through the spindle from the lower side.

Install the locknut, the locking washer and the rod end (17) temporarily on the top end of the pushrod.

 NOTE: You make the pushrod connection and the truck lock

 adjustments after the installation.

Hold the frame (20) to the bracket (14) with the bolt and the nut.

Keep the parallelism of the planes D and E (bracket and frame) within 0.005 inch.

Measure the clearance and the shim to prepare before the last installation of the bolt (22).
