Adjust the hook pin fittings as follows (Detail A):

 (a)  
Set the hook actuator in the rigged closed position. Refer to the "Adjust Hook Mechanism" paragraph.

 (b)  
Make sure the flushness between the door and the body skin is correct (Fig. 511).

 (c)  
Adjust the hook pin fittings as it is necessary to get the correct flushness for the door.

 NOTE: You can use the mid-span latch fittings to help you
____
 get the correct door flushness.

 (d)  
Remove the screw and the retainer from the hook pin.

 (e)  
Put a 3/16-inch diameter rod through the view hole in the hook pin.

 (f)  
Make sure the rod engages the pin alignment hole in the hook.

 (g)  
If not, adjust the hook pin fittings on the serrated plates until the rod engages the hole in the hook.

 (h)  
Examine the line of contact of the hook pin in the initial contact and hook fully closed positions.

 (i)  
Make sure the flushness adjustment of the door is not changed.

 (j)  
Install the screw and the retainer in the hook pin.

 (5)  Adjust the latch mechanism as follows (Fig. 503):
 CAUTION:_______IN CASE THE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN, STOP IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT OPERATE THE DOOR CONTROL SWITCH. HOLDING THE DOOR CONTROL SWITCH MAY DAMAGE THE ACTUATOR. WAIT AT LEAST 1 MINUTE BEFORE SECOND ATTEMPT. IF THE DOOR STILL DOES NOT OPEN, WAIT AT LEAST 10 MINUTES BEFORE THIRD ATTEMPT.
 (a)  
Open the cargo door as it is necessary for access.

 (b)  
Turn the stop bolts to prevent the stop levers to touch the stop bolts as follows (View B-B): 1) Loosen the jamnuts.

 2) Turn the bolts into the stop fittings to touch the jamnuts.Set the latch actuator in the rigged closed position as follows (Fig. 511):
 CAUTION: USE A TORQUE WRENCH WITH A DIAL INDICATOR (FIG. 502)
_______ TO FIND WHEN THE ACTUATOR INTERNAL STOPS ARE TOUCHED. DO NOT USE MORE THAN 70 POUND-INCHES OF TORQUE. IF YOU USE MORE THAN 70 POUND-INCHES, YOU CAN CAUSE INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR.
 1) Use a torque wrench with a dial indicator to manually turn the actuator clockwise to the closed position. 2) Examine the torque. When the torque increases by 15-20 pound-inches, you have touched the internal stops. 3) Turn the latch actuator in the counterclockwise direction one-half turn.
 NOTE: This is when the internal stops are against each
____
 other.

 4)  Turn the torque wrench 2 turns counterclockwise.
 NOTE: This is the rigged closed position.
____
Make sure you can install the rig pins SCD-3 in the rig pin
 slots in all the lower latch cams.
Adjust the lower latch pushrods as it is necessary to permit
 the rig pins to be installed.
Remove all the rig pins.
Make sure you can install the rig pins SCD-4 in the two midspan
 latch cams (View A-A).
Adjust the midspan latch pushrods as it is necessary to permit
 the rig pin to be installed.
Remove the rig pins.
Adjust the stop bolts as follows (View B-B).
 1) With the latch actuator in the rigged closed position,

 adjust the latches closed stop bolts.
 a) Adjust the stop bolts to operate the stop levers.
 b) Tighten the jamnuts and lockwire.

 2)  With the actuator in the rigged closed position, manually turn the latch actuator 111 turns counterclockwise in the open direction.
 NOTE: This is when the external stops are against each

 other.

 3)  Adjust the latches open stop bolts. a) Adjust the stop bolts to operate the stop levers.
