 Put the warning notice in position:

 -in the cockpit on the AIR COND Overhead Control Panel 30VU to tell persons not to push in the APU BLEED pushbutton switch.

 (2)
 Put the access platform(s) 2.1 m (6.88 ft.) or 3.6 m (11.81 ft.) in position at the AFT cargo-compartment door or the access door 312AR.

 C. Get Access
 (1)
 Open the AFT cargo-compartment door (Ref. TASK 52-30-00-860-001) or the access door 312AR.

 (2)
 In the AFT cargo compartment remove the partition panel 161DW.

 A. Removal of the Spring Rods
 NOTE : The removal procedure for all spring rods is the same.

 (1)
 Remove and discard the cotter pin (4).

 (2)
 Remove and retain the castle nut (3) and the washer (2).

 (3)
 Hold the spring rod (5),(7) and (8) and remove the bolt (1) from the

 structure bracket and the bolt (6) from the duct bracket.

 (4)
 Retain the bolts (1) and (6).

 (5)
 Remove the spring rod (5),(7) and (8).

 C. Inspection of the Spring Rod
 (1)
 Make sure that the spring rod is not damaged and does not have corrosion.

 (2)
 Make sure that the piston part of the spring rod moves freely in the cylinder part.

 (3)
 Make sure that you can see the threaded end of the spring rod through the inspection hole.

 A. Installation of the Spring Rods
 NOTE : The installation procedure for all spring rods is the same.

 (1)
 Correctly install the spring rod (5),(7) and (8) between the structure and the duct bracket.

 (2)
 Install the bolt (1) to the structure bracket and the bolt (6) to the duct bracket.

 (3)
 Install the retained washer (2) and the castle nut (3).

 (4)
 Safety the castle nut (3) with the cotter pin (4).
