A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Energize the ground service network
(Ref. TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2)
On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW p/bsw is OFF.
(3)
Make sure that there is a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4)
Make sure that hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

C. Get Access
(1)
Put the access platform in position below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2)
Open the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3)
Set the LIGHT SW 11LJ to the ON position.

A. Installation of the Thermal By-Pass Valve
(1)
Remove the blanking caps/plugs from the oil tubes, the oil cooler and the thermal by-pass valve.
(2)
Apply a thin layer of lubricant OILS (Material No. 03-002) to the new packing (5)
(3)
Position the new packing (5), one in each of the two recesses in the thermal by-pass valve (6).
(4)
Locate the thermal by-pass valve (6) on the oil cooler (4), secure with washers (7) and bolts (8) treated with a thin film of COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-014).
(5)
Apply a thin layer of lubricant to the new packing (1)
(6)
Locate the packings (1), one on each of the oil tubes (9).
(7)
Install the oil tubes (9) in the thermal by-pass valve (6).
(8)
Position the tube retainer (2) on the thermal by-pass valve (6) and secure with bolts (3).
(9)
Torque the bolts (3) to between 25 and 30 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.33 m.daN).

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s): 1KD, 2KD.

C. Do the operational test of the APU (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-710-004).
(1) Examine the fan outlet duct (16), oil cooler (5) and outlet duct (8) for oil leaks.

(1)
Pressurize the reservoirs of the hydraulic systems.
(Ref. TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(2)
De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(3)
Remove the warning notice(s).
