 D.  Procedure
 S 224-004
 (1) Do this task if you install used bolts, bushings, bearings or other
 components with worn areas: "Aileron Tab Control Rods
 Inspection/Check" (Ref 27-11-34/601)

 (2) Install the control rods:
 (a) Lift the aileron trailing edge up.
 (b) Put the two control rods in the mounting position, which align
 the rod ends with the attach fittings.
 NOTE: The rod lengths must be the same as those written down.____
 (c) Put the tab in its position.
 (d) Install the tab hinge bolts.
 (e) Connect the control rods to the tab mast with two bolts,
 washers, and nuts.
 1) Install the bolts for the tab rods with your fingers to
 make sure there is free movement between the rod and bolt
 and no rod movement.
 2) If it is necessary, adjust the length of the rod.
 (f) Tighten the nuts to 50-70 pound-inches.
 (g) Lift the aileron to align the aft balance panel hinge.
 (h) Install the hinge pin and the hinge retainer bolt.
 (i) Install the balance panel hinge seal, retaining strip, and
 bolts.
 (j) Install the two attach bolts, washers, and nuts to connect the
 control rods to the forward fittings.

 ú  (3) Install the hinge access panel on the aileron (AMM 12-31-61/201 and
 ú  AMM 12-31-71/201).

 (4) Install the aileron access panels on the lower wing surface adjacent
 ú  to the aileron (AMM 12-31-61/201)
 S 434-006
 (5) Install the forward part of the tab fairing.
 S 714-008
 (6) Operate the aileron control wheel through full travel.
 (a) Make sure that the tab moves freely.

 (7)  S 484-007Use a straightedge or a tab alignment protractor to measure the difference between the aileron trailing edge and the aileron tab.
 (8)  S 224-011Measure the difference from the tab trailing edge to the extension of the aileron bottom surface at 1/2 inch in from the inboard end of the tab.
 NOTE:____ The index mark on the aileron must align with the index mark on the wing (use a tolerance of +/- 0.03 inch) when you measure the difference.
 (a)  Make sure the tab trailing edge aligns with the aileron bottom surface to 0.07 |0.07 inch.
 (9)  S 824-010Do this task to find and correct the flight control forces that are not symmetrical: "Aileron and Aileron Trim Control System Adjustment" (Ref 27-11-00/501).
