Use the Aileron Tab Alignment Protractor to Measure the Aileron Tab Movement

 (1)  
Use the protractor to measure the aileron tab movement:

 (a)  
Make sure that the aileron aligns with the index mark on the wing (use a tolerance of + /- 0.03 inch).

 (b)  
Move the protractor to a point along the aileron tab.

 (c)  
Move the protractor forward until the scale lightly touches the aileron tab.

 (d)  
Adjust the scale on the protractor to align the index mark on the scale with the aileron tab trailing edge.

 (e)  
Move the aileron up or down to its limit with the protractor held in its position.

 (f)  
Measure the aileron tab movement with the scale on the protractor.

 3.  Elevator Index Plate Rigging Beam Usage

 A.  General
 (1)  
You can use the elevator index plate rigging beam to install or adjust the elevator index plates. Installation or adjustment of the elevator index plates is necessary when you replace the tail cone with a new or different tail cone.

 (2)  
Marks on the stabilizer are necessary to correctly use the rigging beam. If these marks are not on the stabilizer, add the marks as shown in Fig. 202.

Use the Elevator Index Plate Rigging Beam to Install or Adjust the Elevator Index Plates

 (1)  
Use the rigging beam to install or adjust the elevator index plates:

 (a)  
Use a trammel bar or a scale to set the horizontal stabilizer at the "B" dimension of 41.57 |0.01 inches (AMM 27-41-00/501).

 (b)  
Hold the rigging beam on the bottom side of the stabilizer.

 (c)  
Set the index slot located on the front of the rigging beam, to

 6.80 inches inboard of the aligned point Q on the stabilizer.
 NOTE: At this position, the index slot of the rigging beam
____ will align with the mark on the stabilizer.
 (d)  Move the rigging beam forward or aft along the radius arc until the scale of the rigging beam touches the aft edge of the elevator trailing edge.
