(12) Do the following steps to test Spoiler response at FLIGHT DETENT position:
(a) Adjust the spoiler panel protractor to read zero degrees on panel 2 in the DOWN position
(Table 508).
NOTE: Make sure to note the location of the protractor on the spoiler panel.
(b) Measure and record the position of spoiler panels 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and 11.
NOTE: Make sure to note the position of the protractor on each spoiler panel.
(c) Move the speed brake lever to the FLIGHT DETENT position.
(d) Measure and record the position of spoiler panels 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and 11.
NOTE: Make sure to place the protractor in the same positions as noted above. Do not
adjust the protractor zero for this measurement.
(e) Note the +/- reading on the protractor while measuring the UP position.
(f) Calculate and record the total travel for spoiler panels 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and 11 by
subtracting the DOWN position measurement from the FLIGHT DETENT measurement.

NOTE: In order to complete these steps, you must have noted the measurements for the
DOWN position of spoiler panels 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and 11.
(a) Move the Speed Brake lever into the FULL UP position.
(b) Measure and record the position of Spoiler panels 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and 11 (Table 510).
NOTE: Make sure to place the protractor in the same positions as noted above. Do not
adjust the protractor zero for this measurement.
(c) Note the +/- reading on the protractor as this value must be used to calculate total panel
travel.
(d) Calculate the total travel for each spoiler panel by subtracting the DOWN position
measurement from the full UP position measurement.

(e) Make sure that there is no more than 2 degrees difference between symmetric spoiler
panel pairs: 2 and 11, 3 and 10, 4 and 9, 5 and 8.
(f) Turn the captain’s control wheel clockwise to 87 degrees and hold.
(g) Measure and record the position of flight spoilers 8, 9, 10 and 11 (Table 511).
NOTE: If spoiler panels 8, 9, 10 and 11 do not move, use the calculated panel travel from
above instead.
(h) Make sure spoiler panels 2, 3, 4 and 5 are partially raised.
