 Remove the ground spoiler:

 (a)  
Remove the two bolts that attach the pushrods to the ground spoiler.

 (b)  
Disconnect the bonding jumpers from the ground spoiler.

 (c)  
Remove the four hinge bolts.

 (d)  
Remove the ground spoiler from the airplane.

 (e)  
Remove the bearings from the four hinge fittings.

Procedure

 (1)  
If you will install used parts, examine the parts for worn areas (AMM 27-62-12/601).

If you will install a spoiler made of a different material than the spoiler you removed, you must change the airplane weight and balance data.

Install the ground spoiler:

 (a)  
Install the bearings in the four ground spoiler hinge fittings.

 (b)  
Put the spoiler in its position on the airplane.

 (c)  
Install the four hinge bolts in the hinge fittings: 1) Install the two center hinge bolts with their heads outboard.

 2)  Install the inboard and outboard hinge bolts with their heads inboard.

 (d)  
Attach the two outer hinge bolts: 1) Install a washer and nut on each bolt.

 (e) (f)  2) Tighten the nuts to 50-70 pound-inches. 3) Install the cotter pins in the nuts.Attach the two center hinge bolts: 1) Install the washers and nut on each bolt. 2) Tighten the nuts to 630-950 pound-inches. 3) Install the cotter pins in the nuts.Connect the bonding jumpers to the ground spoiler: 1) Clean the mating surfaces for the bonding jumpers. 2) Attach the bonding jumpers to the lower part of the leading edge channel, near the inboard and outboard hinges. 3) If there is not a hole in the spoiler for the bonding jumper, drill a hole in the lower part of the spoiler. a) Drill the hole 8.15 inches from the end of the spoiler panel, 0.5 inch aft of the leading edge. 4) Use the milliohmmeter to make sure the resistance of the bonding jumper connection is less than 0.010 ohms.

 (4)  Move the spoiler through its full travel. (a) Make sure the spoiler panel moves freely.

 (5)  Install the bolt that attaches the rod end for the ground spoiler actuator to the spoiler: (a) Apply a layer of the BMS 3-24 grease to the bolt. (b) Install the bolts with their heads outboard. (c) Install the washers and nuts on the bolts. (d) Tighten the nuts to 290-410 pound-inches. (e) Apply the BMS 3-24 grease to the bolt, washer, and nut.
