Procedure

 S 424-008
 (1)  
Install the gearbox:

 (a)  
Put the gearbox in its position on the rear spar of the wing.

 (b)  
Apply a layer of the primer to the bolts and washers for the gearbox.

 (c)  
With the primer wet, install the four bolts and washers to attach the gearbox.

 S 434-009
 (2)
Connect the torque tubes to the couplings on the gearbox:

 (a)  
Apply a thick layer of the grease to the splines on the coupling.

 (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) (g)  Put the torque tubes in their position on the sides of the gearbox.Move the coupling sleeves on the couplings on the gearbox.Install the three screws to attach the coupling sleeves.Install the lockwire on the screws.Move the torque tubes away from the gearbox until the couplings touch.Make sure the clearance between the two coupling sleeves is 0.46 +0.06/-0.21 inch.
 (3)  S 434-010If it is necessary, install the flap position transmitter (Ref 27-58-12/401).
 (4)  S 434-011Install the electrical connector on the flap position transmitter.
 (5)  S 724-012Do the test of the trailing edge flap position indicating system (Ref 27-58-01/501).
 (6)  S 864-013Supply the system B hydraulic power (Ref 27-51-00/201).
 (7)  S 864-014Put the flap control lever in the UP detent to retract the flaps.
 (8)  S 864-015Remove the system B hydraulic power (Ref 27-51-00/201).

 1.  General_______
 A.  There are two tasks in this procedure. There is a task for the removal and a task for the installation of the position indicator for the trailing edge flap system. The trailing edge flap position indicator is installed on the center instrument panel P2.

Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 (a)  
P6-2 Panel
 1) TE FLAP POS IND

 S 024-003
 (2)  
Remove the indicator from the P2 panel:

 (a)  
Remove the indicator from the front of the panel.

 (b)  
Disconnect the electrical connector.
