NOTE: The usual pressurization of flight will seat the newly
____ installed windshield in its frame. This will cause the fasteners to loosen slightly. You cannot get to the bottom row of fasteners after you install the lightshield. If you pressurize the cabin and tighten the bolts again, it will save you from the removal and installation of the lightshield again.

(10) Do a check for loose window bolts and tighten the nuts again if it is necessary.
NOTE: You should tighten and retorque a nut in 5 inch-pound
____ increments from the original torque with the checknuts removed. For example, for a 3/16 bolt torqued at 20 inch-pounds, an additional 5 inch-pounds can be applied to insure proper window seating without exceeding maximum torque of 25 inch-pounds. You can cause damage to the window if you tighten them too much.

(12) Remove the masking tape that is immediately on top of the gap between the outer edge of the window and the fuselage.
NOTE: You can do this with a sharp knife or an equivalent object.
____ But the installed masking tape must give protection to the edges of the clearance.

NOTE: The two ends of the nylon cord must touch in the top aft
____ corner of the window frame. They must make an overlap of approximately 0.5 inch.

On PPG windows, do a contiuity check and measure the resistance between the Z-channel and the airplane structure.

If the measured resistance value on the PPG and Sierracin windows is greater than 1 ohm, install the wire mesh as follows:
NOTE: The installation of the wire mesh will ground the Z-channel
____ to the skin and will help prevent large static build-up to the window. The wire mesh installation will give a low resistance value.
(a)
Remove the paint from the edge of the frame structure where the wire mesh touches it (4 locations, one in the middle of each side), if it is necessary.
(b)
Install a 2 to 3 inch length of the aluminum wire mesh near the middle of each side of the window in the area between the Z-Channel and structure.
(c)
Apply the chemical film treatment (alodine or Iredite).

_______ DIFFERENT JOBS. YOU MUST APPLY THE SMOOTHER DURING THE WORK LIFE THAT YOU CHOOSE.
(16) On PPG and Sierracin windows, if you measure the resistance value to be 1 ohm or less, you do not have to do a continuity check. Apply the aerodynamic smoother as follows:
(a) Slowly put the aerodynamic smoother in the clearance with a flow gun or with a spatula until the area is fully filled.
NOTE:____Do not permit air to be caught in the smoother. Apply the smoother on the top of the bumper strip or Z-channel to overlap glass surface of the window 0.15 | 0.03 inch.
1) If you must send the airplane before the sealant is fully cured, install a Teflon tape on the top of the sealant and cover with a 2.0 inch (50.8 mm) wide Speedtape.
NOTE: Remove the tape when the sealant is fully cured.
