 G. Do the Installation Test for the Air Cycle Machine (ACM)

 WATER SEPARATOR - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

 1. General
_______
 A. This procedure has these four tasks:
 (1) The first task is a functional test of the water separator.
 NOTE: This test is used to determine if the water separator needs
____ to be removed and cleaned. This test is the same for each of the air conditioning packs.
 (2)  
The second task is the removal of the water separator.

 (3)  
The third task is the cleaning of the water separator.

 (4)  
The fourth task is the installation of the water separator.

 2. Water Separator - Functional Test
__________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  This test will measure the differential pressure across the inlet and the outlet of the water separator to determine if you must clean the coalescer bag. This test can be used as a method to prevent the occurence of water and/or ice in the airplane cabin interior. The water separator coalescer bag must be clean and the Pack Temperature Control system must operate properly to prevent the occurence of water and/or ice in the airplane cabin interior. If the coalescer bag becomes dirty and clogged, or if there is a Pack Temperature Control system problem which causes the pack outlet temperature to be excessively cold and causes ice to form on the coalescer bag, the differential pressure across the water separator will be high. If the differential pressure is more than or equal to 3.5 psid
 (24.1 kPa), the water separator relief valve will open and the conditioned air from the pack will bypass the coalescer bag and permit water and/or ice to occur in the airplane cabin interior.
 B. Equipment
 NOTE: Airplanes with the WATER SEP DELTA P indication shown on the
____ EICAS ECS maintenance page can use this EICAS indication in place of the test equipment listed below to measure the differential pressure across the water separator.
